We were impressed by the modern facilities, the staff were making an effort to ensure we had a good visit. The views were great & we would stay there again.

Ok hotel, not very good customer service from staff - lots of promises to sort things out, but unfortunately that never happens, was assured my complaint would be dealt with and someone would write or call, they never did. Had a massive promlem with disabled parking, STAFF members use the bays all the time, when we asked to speak to the duty manager, he told us that was not the case, we must be mistaken, its funny that they all had Holiday Inn uniforms on and when we asked if he could find out who was parking there, surprise surprise out comes the cook! Need I say more, probably wouldn't stay there again.

Nice modern property with an excellent convenient location franchised by Inter Continental Hotels. I will not use this hotel again. I stayed overnight on the 3rd/4th May. When I checked out I left behind a folded shirt under the bedcover in my room. I realised I had done this as soon as I got home, and called the hotel around 16:00 hrs to explain what had happened. I was advised that I would be called back as soon as the housekeeping manager had had an opportunity to acertain what had happened. No one called back, so I rang at lunchtime the following day and spoke directly to a member of the housekeeping staff, and was assured I would be called back. No-one called again, so I called a third time (7th May). On this occasion, the Duty Manager (Ricky) did call me back to say that by now the trail of the shirt left in the room was cold. Following my conversation with Ricky, I sent an e-mail to Lee General Manager suggesting that he check out the standard operating instructions, training and performance of his housekeeping staff. The following day (13:48 hrs 8th May 2006), I had a call from Dimitrios, the Operations Manager who apologised for missing me, and promised to call back. I returned his call to find he was busy at a meeting, left my number and said I would welcome a conversation. Why am I not surprised that I have heard nothing since? The loss of a shirt is a business travel casualty. What has pissed me off is the promise of call backs that never materialised. This franchisee has damaged the Holiday Inn brand reputation for me.

Chester Jets Basketball Spring Ball We attended this event as guests, and paid £25.00 each for the tickets. We were very disappointed with the meal. The soup, which I think was supposed to be some kind of cream soup, was green and thin and luke warm. The plates were placed on the table for the main course, and we were told they were very hot. Ten minutes later a breast of chicken was put on the now cold plate. This was joined by soggy carrot and swede battons and I was lucky to get one mange tout, along with three very small new potatoes. All parts of the meal were barely warm. The sweet was chocolate fudge cake was very cold - obviously not long out of the freezer. We did not complain at the time because we were guests of a friend. This is the second time we have been extremely disappointed with the food and service. We attended a Christmas function on Saturday 17 December 2005, decided not to complain as most establishments only offer mediocre meals during the Christmas season. For this event we paid £35.00 each. On both occasions, there was an attempt at "silver service". Having worked in the hotel/catering industry, this does not seem to work in your establishment for the number of people to be served at one time and the lack of experience of the staff - who I have to say were very friendly and did try their best, but obviously lacked training required. We do not normally complain, but neither of us will attend another function at the Holiday Inn, Ellesmere Port, nor would we recommend it to any of our friends. We look forward to receiving your comments. Regards Jan & Bill Cameron 3 Denbigh Gardens Ellesmere Port Cheshire CH65 9BG T: 0151 357 1638
