Hooray!!!! The only pub in Horndean that until recently served a selection of brewers real ales, that was well kept and cheerliy served, the Brewers Arms in Five Heads road, has regretably been turned to a typical Portsmouth lager lout eatablishment, thanks to the new landlady. The outside of the pub is now surrouned by blackboards advertising Kareoke and all sorts of other events, attracting a completely differnt clientel to those who have graced it's door for many a day. Some, customers for many many years have walked away never to darken it's doors again. . So why Hooray? Well those of us who have past the prime of our lives but still have money to spend. Those of us who long for a quiet pint of real ale in a local friendly and welcoming pub, have had our hopes raised once again. The Anchor has just re opend under new management, the landlord knows his ales and almost every original customer of the Brewers Arms is making their way to the Anchor. I and these new/old customers wish Julian all the best for his new venture and hope he will be serving proper beers for years to come.
