Found this place on the way through to Mousehole. Was with my partner and two teenage kids after a long day out and needed to eat. It caught my eye as it stuck out from the rest of the quite drab looking buildings that populate this working village. We parked just up the road and walked back to see if we could get a table and we were glad that we did. From the moment we walked in the level of service and attention was exceptional. We were seated at a window table overlooking the harbour with a fantastic view of St Michaels Mount which looked great as the sun set. We were given a basket of great tasting freshly made breads which just disappeared and was discretely replaced with some different but equally good alternatives. My son (13) was told that if he didn't like anything on the menu there were some options available from the family freezer (fortunately this wasnt necessary and he enjoyed a local rib eye steak). The scallops and sardine starters were high quality and generous portions. The chef obviously takes full advantage of the fish market that is just up the road so we went for fish mains as well. The food was simply cooked but with a good variety of flavours. Again the portions were generous and therefore good value for money. There were a number of locals dining while we were there and they were obviously regulars and were greeted as friends by the hostess and the chef who came out to check that everything was ok with the food. My partner (being a bit nosy) enquired about the rooms and was shown around one which was empty. She reported that it was really well laid out and modern looking. We all really enjoyed our evening and were truly glad that we had stopped to check out this understated gem. In summary - Great food, great service, great prices in a great location. Its just a shame its so far from South East London where we live.
