Best rates for a Local Hotel

We booked a one night stay several weeks in advance at a rate of £115. We explained we were attending a wedding at a local venue and would ring nearer the time to confirm our arrival time. On arrival at 2pm we were shown to our room after being asked to pay in full while checking in. This should have been a warning to us. The room was clean and tidy but had not had any heating in the room for some time and was absolutely freezing cold. We mentioned this to the young lady who showed us to our room. She explained that the heating did not come on until 5pm/6pm but would be warm on our return. We went happily to the wedding and returned at midnight to find the room "like an ice-box" and no sign of any heating. We spent the whole night trying to keep warm and despite the bed covers our attempts at warmth and sleep were unsuccessful. Yes I know what you're thinking, we are wimps, but as hardened campers are used to cold evenings under canvas. We just didn't expect it in a highly recommended B&B with an excellent website. At breakfast in the morning, which was warm and very welcome, we spoke with the residents of the other two rooms and they had also experienced the frozen night. We spoke to the manager and explained our experience and we were met with total indifference to our concerns. His reaction was to tell us to contact the estate managers, Strutt and Parker in Harrogate. He also informed us that the heating was on a timer and that it wasn't that easy to alter. After all the fantastic reviews we were extremely disappointed and will not be returning for another stay. Please be careful of the month of your stay and we would warn guests against the pre-payment asked for on check-in.

It was our third visit to this delightful pub, excellent food, not too expensive, roaring fire in the snug (where we were), and busy enough not to be too crowded. We return here whenever we can find an excuse. Views to die for and we can't find anything bad to say; a treat in the Ribble Valley
