I booked 3 nights via the TIC in Hexham. When I got there, I was asked to pay upfront for all nights. That was fine. My room wasn't. It had been half refurbished. It had new floors but 1 inch gaps all around the edges. There was an electric heater that looked like it had been used to cook food on. The wardrobe had remains of a previous tenants food and rubbish including porn magazines. The handbasin was half attached to the wall and only the hot tap worked. The toilet bowl had a couple of cigarette butts floating around and I have seen better seats in public toilets. Surely the cheapest seat available would have been better! I didn't get much sleep because of the noise and swearing from the other guests. I left the next morning.
