Best rates for a Local Hotel

Yes, it's YOUR NIGHTMARE SCENARIO. You've confidently selected your hotel, booked your "superior" room on booking.com over 3 weeks before, received a confirmatory email and traveled over 3 hours to your destination to find out that you don't have a roof over your head for the night! On presenting ourselves at reception, Nicky, the manager, said "you must be <2 surnames given>", neither of which was ours. When we gave our name she immediately said "oh yes you are booked in for tomorrow". On presenting our confirmatory email clearly indicating a booking for that day, Nicki rifled, carelessly, through an unsorted file of booking.com paperwork but could not find our booking. We obviously said that we were not at all happy with this situation and were told that the hotel was fully booked and that this "sort of thing" happens 3 to 4 times a year. No apology was given - from her manner and tone of Nicky's voice, she indicated this was a greater inconvenience to her that to us. What she did do was to call another hotel she was aware of that could possibly accommodate us that evening. This hotel, which she managed to book a room at, was in an area we did not want to be in and was a style of hotel we would not have chosen. IF YOU ARE A COUPLE OR FAMILY LOOKING FOR A SPECIAL HOTEL TO ENJOY FOR A SHORT BREAK, DO NOT CHOOSE CHURSTON COURT. It appears that your booking will be of lesser importance to this establishment than wedding bookings or those of longer stay guests. We had the distinct impression that our booking was 'conveniently moved' to the next day to accommodate someone else.

Good Points: Beautifully furnished bathroom. Very comfortable bed Excellent food Bad Points: No hot water from shower. Not impressed with staff attitude at checkin process or some of the waitress service during dinner. General review: Adequate. Clean accommodation, excellent food , lovely bathroom.

Good Points: the four poster bed and the overall decour of the hotel which took you back in time. General review: Aclear indication of the price breakdown of the final bill. EG I paid over £101 for 2 starters and 2 steakmeals but this was not explained and all I got was thats the food bill. If thats the case then the accommodation is very good but the food prices are totally very unreasonable

Good Points: Lovely newly renovated, lovely ensuite room, with 4 poster comfortable bed - taseful decor, spotlessly clean - nothing more I could ask for. Bad Points: Nothing really, if I was pushed, I'd say that the room was small but anything larger wasn't necessary for an overnight or weekend stay, and the excellent quality of the room far outweighs the fact that it was small. General review: I've stayed before a few years ago and it was a lovely hotel then, but it is obviously being updated constantly, and it is a great atmospheric place to stay with a great menu for an evening meal. I'd highly recommend it.
