We think the place is fab. We find the staff very attentive and friendly. The food is always well cooked and enjoyable. You don't have a long wait for seating/service. We don't eat any of the Australian themed meals although my husband has tried all of them. Lots of our friends also eat there regularly. We always book several weeks in advance because we know how busy it can get.If the restaurant is as bad as some people are commenting, why is the place always full whenever we go there? In fact we're off there tomorrow evening.

We had high hopes, as the 'restaurant' had been recommended to us by a friend. If it is attempting to represent Australian cuisine, it was a poor reflection, and I would be embarrased to go there with anyone from that country. Australian eating is reknowned for quality seafood and exciting salads. The food was sub-standard , and nothing that I couldn't do at home with my eyes shut. The chips were economy frozen, the prawns were small from frozen and waterlogged, the sauces from catering bottles. the coleslaw from catering tubs, the salad was unimaginative, shredded iceberg lettuce with mustard and cress and quatered tomatoes! The only part of my meal that was acceptable was the rib-eye steak. The tables and chairs were tired and grubby and the staff pushy and unattentive. None of the staff asked us if we were happy with the food. It felt like we'd chosen the night to eat there when the real chef was on leave. The person who took my payment assured me that it was always like this. The food was definitely over-priced. All in all it was a revolting experience, which left us all feeling queezy. Surely anyone with a small appreciation of dining out should avoid making the same mistake as we did.

after reading such great reviews i had high expectations, very fast service maybe to quick, we had a table for two, and a larger party came and sat next to us but there was little room, so while we were eating the waitress was practically sitting on our table, she was also pointing to what we were eating to try and show the others what it was like, so they were all staring and saying how do u no if your eating kangaroo or steak, the food was nice but nothing special i found everything was seasoned or spicy, the large side dips were given to us, then passed from table to table, so no dipping you chips or fingers in lol,i thought the chips would have been steak chips but they were more like fries, maybe its an aussie thing i dont no, it was all abit rushed, no one really spoke to us like the others have said, and we also had no problem in booking, on that day anyway,

What a gem of a restaurant. Large range of starters, main courses and sweets. Food is cooked to perfection and plentiful and very reasonably priced compared with other restaurants in the town. The staff were more than attentive and we had hardly any wait for food from time of ordering to being served at the table. Althought the weather outside was horrendous the atmosphere was great and the poularity of the place showed with the number of people eating meals. If you intend to eat at the Kook A Ba starve the day before as portions are huge!! Lovely people, lovely food and a credit to the owner.

I visit relatives in Saundersfoot regularly, and we always go to the Kook-a-ba to eat. The food is fantastic, the meat used is of excellent quality, the staff are friendly and efficient. Overall, one of my favourite restaurants. I just wish it was closer to me so I could go more often!
