We were visiting the area, and a local couple recommended The Old Rectory for a meal. It's near the harbour at Dysart, and although it's not central, it wasn't too hard to locate. When we visited, it was a chilly evening, so the log fire and relaxed surroundings were very welcoming. The starters were excellent, and for the main course I had the Sea Bass, and my husband had the peppered steak. Both were also very good. For the dessert, I'd recommend the cheescake. It's quite rich, but it's probably as good as you've tasted. A nice surprise at the end was the bill, which was less than we'd expected. If you're fed up with the plastic, chrome and noise (and expense!) of some of the newer places, then you could do worse than try this eaterie. I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised. E. McKendrick.
