The Fieldhead Hotel in Looe is a real treasure. The care and attention we received - and they were busy when we were there in March, was exemplary.
From the moment we arrived, Julian seemed always on hand to look after us and everyone there, whether it was for breakfast, afternoon Cornish Cream Tea or Dinner.
Our room with a wonderful sea view was clean, warm, comfy beds and well maintained with interesting information in the room folder.
We were there on half board. The breakfast is equal to or better than the best hotel breakfast from both the extensive buffet and the extensive and diverse cooked breakfast I have ever had. The two cream teas (extra) we had were excellent and how they manage to change the dinner menu of 4 courses, daily, is a credit to them. The ingredients were always fresh and they even make their own jam and marmalade with Gill growing many of their own herbs.
We were there during their free phone call initiative. How special was that to go to a hotel and have free calls? I have never heard of that before.
Even the weather was brilliant for us too.
At 2 stars, this hotel offers great value for money but in my opinion is a very good 3 star if not 4.

Just had a Winter week at the Fieldhead Hotel in Looe and loved it. Cannot fault the hotel. Looe too is a super little town excellently placed for viewing the surrounding area, super sandy beach, rock pools, cliffs, working harbour, excellent town centre parking and all its nooks and crannies, small ancient back streets – one can just feel those old smugglers and fishermen - antique shops and even at this time of year, has a healthy night life – and the best little pub – Ye Olde Salutation.
We had a standard double with that fantastic sea view as do all the public rooms. Very comfortable, warm and one of the cleanest hotels and hotel rooms we have stayed in. Most hospitable host in Julian. Friendly efficient service. Great fresh food with an excellent buffet and hot selection for breakfast including the best kippers ever. Dinner too was excellent. We booked to have dinner each night and did not regret one of them with a different menu each night and always well cooked and pleasingly presented. The reasonably priced wine list of some 40 wines showed a professional skill of choice in its diversity of wine and price. Bar drinks a bit expensive, but then all are “House doubles”.
A big bonus is the free on site car parking adjacent to the hotel. Sadly we were not there at a time for the swimming pool, which I can imagine, is just outstanding during the Summer with its also wonderful Mediterranean views.
All that and the price? Very reasonable for all we had.
Yes, we will be back and have no hesitation to recommend it. Stay there, and as they say, you’ll not regret it.

This lovely hotel is so unstated. Free on site parking is a rarity in Looe, so that got my vote.
Our welcome was very pleasant, including from Trudy who is a delightful King Charles Spaniel who kept us company for lots of our stay.
Our room, with a fantastic view over the bay was clean, bright and very comfortable.
The bar and lounge too were both very comfortable - and again they have wonderful views over an enormous expanse of sea so you can see the shipping and Eddystone Lighthouse in the distance.
Both dinner and breakfast were prepared and served by staff who obviously care what they are doing.
And the bill? ...... I could not believe how cheap it was - so if you think price reflects standards and quality - well, this hotel gives both standards and quality but does not charge the earth for them.
Highly recommended.
