On arrival we were greeted by what can only be described as a building site, bare plasterboard & exposed wiring in the reception area (a safety issue surely?). The corridor between the dining area & the toilets had plasterboard sheets propped up against the wall and in the toilets themselves the hand dryer didn't work and there were no fittings, merely a roll of loo paper plonked on top of the cistern. Delightful! On being shown to our table it became obvious that two mis-matched tables had been hurriedly pushed together - a square one and a round one so that some of our party virtually had their backs to each other. It wasn't as though we'd just turned up off the street either as the table had been booked days in advance. When we asked to be moved to another table we were grudgingly shown to another. However the best (worst) is yet to come - the 'food'... Three of our party ordered steak, two sirloin & one fillet. When they came they were indistinguishable from one another and tasted only of charcoal. Now there's flame-grilled, and there's cremated, none of them tasted remotely like anything that had ever been alive. The halibut was tasteless (like the decor) and merely sprinkling a handful of prawns on top with a creamy sauce did nothing to improve it. Admittedly two of our party were satisfied with their food - they had lasagne, hard for even these people to get wrong. When we had the audacity to complain to the manageress she made no effort to apologise and became confrontational, telling us not to come back (we assured her that she needn't worry on this matter). When we returned to our table she made more snide comments towards us as she went to pass on our complaints to the kitchen staff, one of whom - a chap with a mop of curly hair not tied back or covered in a kitchen - began giving us finger gestures! So I can vouch for the fact that their customer service and attitude stinks, even worse than their 'food'. So, dear reader be warned. If you are looking for an awful 'dining' experience with terrible food and lousy customer service then Mamma Mia's is the place for you. Needless to say we will NOT be going back.
