This was my second dissapointing visit believing that it couldnt be worse than my first incident. Where do I begin several weeks ago I went with a friend to an empty pub to have an afternoon drink where I was asked by the manager to sit down and he would bring drinks only to wait 25 mins. without an apology. I thought that this was just a one off and recommended a friend who was having visitors from London to go there only to hear that her visitors were very dissapointed in the time it took to get their meals with no apologies and comments that they made to staff where just shrugged off. On Friday the 27th Feb 2009 I went with a work colleague and though the service was slow we enjoyed ourselves paid the bill only to be chased out of the restaurant by a young male waiter to be accused of not paying a bill for food we didnt have. We insisted on going back inside only to be told we had sat at two tables and hadnt paid for one table, when they discovered they had made a mistake we were dismissed with a flick of an hand and "you may go". The manager stood and watched and then came outside without an apology and hoped we would come again. This is a mediocre pub with basic food and poor service and I would question whether with a 150 pubs closing weekly and more people staying at home due to high prices and able to eat and drink cheaper at home and every manager and landlord seeing diminshing numbers of people coming through their doors can they afford to have such shoddy service and such bad management. We were not expecting a offer of a free drink or meal (which we were not offered) just a simple sorry, I will be taking this further to the company itself I do hope the service improves as it was a pleasant place to visit a few years ago.

This is our second visit to the Butlers Leap as the first was so good. The food and service are both excellent. It is a relaxing pub with big screen tv and comfortable surroundings. I would highly recommend The Butlers Leap and will be returning as soon as possible.
