My partner and I and a group of friends have been regular visitors to this restaurant over the past five years and have generally found the quality of the food to be very good. However, in the past months the standard of service has deteriorated immensely and the prospects of us using this restaurant again are very slim. Our last four visits to the Le Raj, since late last year can be summarised as follows: 1. November 2005 - Table booked and available as per reservation. However, despite a busy restaurant a large number of take away orders were being taken. This resulted in a huge delay to our order (4 people). Our starters were ordered at around 8.15, our main courses did not arrive until nearly 10pm. Made a complaint to the manager and received an apology. 2. December 2005 - Table booked for 6 people, but not available on our arrival. Short delay while a table was cleaned and reset. Again, a large number of take away orders resulting in delay to our meal, but not as significant as in 1. above. 3. February 2006 - Table booked for 4 people, available for our arrival. Large delays again in serving our meal, seemingly due again to a large number of take away orders. Complained again to manager, apology received again. 4. April 2006 - Table booked for 3 people at 8.30pm. On arrival at 8.25pm no table was available. Asked to speak to the manager who denied all knowledge of my reservation (made earlier that afternoon). Raised my concern with manager on this issue, he stated that no such reservation had been received. I expressed my displeasure at this and restated my previous experiences of his restaurant to him. I was then offered a table in the waiting area used by those people awaiting take away orders. I declined as the restaurant was again busy with eat-in and take away customers and had quite frankly had enough of this appalling level of service. Again, I would reaffirm that while the quality of the food has generally been very good, I do object to the laughable level of service and organisation. This is particularly irritating when those who are seated for a meal experience long delays while those people who have ordered take aways are seemingly given priority.
