I have used Information Britain on a number of occasions to find restaurants etc. to dine out at. I was amazed when browsing, to find such a negative review about this restaurant (Matt - 4th Aug). I have eaten at O'este on many occasions and have always found the ambience, service and food excellent. The waiting on staff have even won awards for customer service. I have had some of the criticized meals and have had nothing to complain about what so ever. I find it difficult to believe a word of this person's review and wonder if they have actually dined at the restaurant in question.Sounds like a competitor to me. As for "Information Britain", how truly reliable are your reviews!

I went to oeste at the weekend for the first time with a party of 10 and we all had a great night. we had a range of menu's to choose from which meant we all got what we wanted. i orderes tapas and the size of the portions were great value. the atmosphere was great, the food and service was exemplary nothing was to much trouble for the staff and everyone enjoyed the evening, i will be going back again.

I found this review website when I googled Oeste for the phone number! I live and work in Ormskirk, but I've always been put off going to Oeste because it is a Tapas bar and I'm a VERY fussy eater! So when my Department at work booked there for the Christmas meal I wasn't really expecting to enjoy the food. OMG!!! How wrong could I have been!!! The whole night was absolutely FANTASTIC! We all met up in the very comfy bar and had a glass of wine while our table was being prepared. The service was brilliant with very patient/friendly and efficient staff. Our food came out very quickly and professionally. For Starters -I chose the melon, because I wanted to play 'safe', but my colleagues had chosen other starters and they all gave top marks - especially for the Potato & Leek Soup - DELISH!! Then OMG! My mains came out - Lamb Shank !! IT WAS DELICIOUS - the meat just fell off the bone, the jus was gorgeous and the little bed of mash was soooo creamy and not at all 'overfacing'. My whole meal was orgasmic! My colleagues had a similar experience with the Steak and one had the salmon with was declared fantastic! A plethora of perfectly cooked vegetables completed the table. For Pud - I had ordered the cheesecake, but I was far too full, so changed it to the very elegant cheese and biscuits. But other people had the cheesecake and boy was I sorry I changed my mind! I was allowed a little sample from my colleagues plate and it was heavenly. This was all washed down with some very pleasant bottles of wine and lots of jugs of water, very willingly supplied by the busy staff. We then retired into the bar with it's lovely comfy seats and finished the night very pleasantly. So today, I'm looking to book it again with a pal because I think this experience should be shared and passed on to those I care about!

This is one of several visits I have made to this restaurant and every time we visit we are continualy impressed with the standards. From the efficent waiters/waitresses to the delicous mouthwatering menus on offer. The whole experience is one of where the clientel are made to feel that they are really welcomed during their dining experience. There is an excellant choce of menus on offer as well as a good choce of wines and all very reaonably priced. we took some friends and family last year who were visiting from Austrailia and they were very impressed and we always tell anyone who wishes to know where is a good place for a meal quite simply we say go to O'est you will not be disapointed!!

Being a lover of fine foods & restaurants, it wont take me long to describe O'Este. Our party of 7 received a very warm welcome. The bar & restaurant was cosy & inviting, yet spacious, & modern. We were seated at our table promptly. Staff were very polite and accommodating. The Menu offered an excellent range of dishes, & the food was "not to be missed"! If you havent already been to O'Este, "Give it a go" .... Im sure that you will be going back! Catherine

After reading the review by Mr David Warren I visited O'este with some trepidation after being invited by friends. I was met by pleasant friendly staff and after having a drink in the bar first we were shown to our table. The menu was extensive and there is enough choice to please even the most discerning customer. I chose from the tapas menu which included goats cheese, while my friends chose from the a la carte. All our meals were absolutely fabulous. We choose a rioja from a choice of 'around the world 'wines to accompany our meals and then went on to have the best sangria I have ever tasted. The staff were attentive, the food outstanding, the ambience great. SHAME ON YOU MR DAVID WARREN you sound like a competitor rather a genuine customer trying to put down what I would consider with out doubt a really friendly establishment.

I have just done a Google search as I wanted to find the phone number to book for Christmas and came across the ONE article you have published on your website which is disappointing. I have been to this fabulous restaurant on many occasions when visiting the North West. I have eaten the Lobster, Oysters, and Fillet Steaks, drank their wines and have never had a complaint about this friendly welcoming restaurant. I am also aware that the Chefs are all bald so was amazed to read the article from the unhappy David Warren on 19th June, 2006, stating at one point „a LARGE CURLY BLACK HAIR was found cooked into the baked goat‚s cheese.‰ But hey it happens and he was there after all! I have recommended the O‚este to many friends and family all of whom have had a very pleasant dinning experience. I feel as though if your website should be taken seriously and hold credibility when looking at other establishments/ articles and reviews then this should be included along with what the regional newspaper published by Janet Tansley, Liverpool Echo on Jan 13 2006 which is also a very positive article about the O‚este. OOH-ESTEE, err-west . . . hmm. We speculated on the pronouncement of the name O'ESTE for far too many minutes before wondering "does it really matter?" After all, it was an evening filled with excitement, not least because we'd managed to arrange a meal out with friends "sans enfants". What was more, we were looking forward to trying a new restaurant. A birthday and a wedding anniversary were the reasons for pushing the boat out along with curiosity about the said new wine bar and tapas restaurant in Ormskirk. And, while the anticipation can often be the greatest part of any new experience, I am delighted to reveal that this was not the case here. Dr Who eat your heart out. The tardis has got nothing on this corner restaurant which is deceptively spacious. An artistically lit bar area opens up into a huge orangery-style restaurant. Light wood and a simple, minimalist look create a modern, yet sophisticated environment. Within seconds we knew we were in for a special treat and an eating experience far removed from the mundane. To start, two of our party chose the sauté garlic mushrooms (£3.95). A fairly typical entrée, but these had such an unusual twist and a fantastic aroma. The succulent mushrooms were roasted in a lemon and wild thyme sauce which had permeated through to their centre. The unique flavour, though subtle, seemed to nestle on the tongue for long enough to truly savour the taste, before the desire to sink a fork into yet another mushroom proved once more overwhelming. My husband, a seafood afficianado, went for one of the many specials, tiger prawns in a sweet chilli sauce (£5.95). A plentiful plate of plump prawns arrived, bathed in a piquant sauce that was tasty enough to awaken the senses, but not so spicy as to smother the taste of anything else that might follow. And, again, the prawns were moist and juicy and had really taken in the chilli flavour as opposed to merely being coated with it. I opted for the chicken liver and sherry pate, (£3.95) smooth and served with a decorative salad and a red onion and pepper marmalade. A cliche it is, I confess, but we could all have left there and then, happy and satiated. I was more than able to do justice to the rosemary and garlic chicken breast (£9.95), oven baked and which came served on a creamy mushroom and leek sauce. The men chose, again, a fairly popular main course of prime Scottish sirloin steak (£12.95) but instead of the usual peppercorn or brandy sauce, although that is offered with the fillet steak, it arrived with raspberries on a shallot, port and dark chocolate sauce. I knew my husband felt he was being adventurous ordering a steak with such an interesting sauce but while I suspect he was half expecting not to like it, his eyes widened with the first mouthful and he enthused endlessly about the rich and unsuspecting delight. These meals were all served with a panache of fresh vegetables. A combination of mange tout, red baby onions, broccoli and baby sweet-corn was steamed with garlic and fresh chervil, and they were perfectly cooked so as to allow the full flavour to escape only when it's in the mouth - not too crisp, not at all overdone. Earthy new potatoes joined the mix. My friend's husband went for the sauté gambas and monkfish for his main course, pan fried in garlic, basil and pine nuts and resting on a carrot and courgette spaghetti (£13.95). All the dishes were beautifully presented and if asked for marks out of 10, no one would have given any less than the maximum. Rarely can that be said. Only two of us could manage desert (both £3.95), although as usual the sight of it prompted others to immediately pick up spoons "for just a little taste", and those were Baileys creme brulé, wonderfully light custard pud delicately flavoured by one of the favourite liqueurs and trapped, though not for long, beneath a crisp layer of caramelised sugar, and a rich but light, tiramisu, sponge soaked in marsala wine layered with cream and marscapone cheese, and dusted with chocolate. Such a sumptuous meal was rounded off in the most marvellous way with a bottle of bubbly, and topped by super service. And as we sauntered back to our car we wondered again about how to say the restaurant's name. But it doesn't matter. The food speaks fluently for itself.
