Went to rowlands on sat 14th may for hubbys birthday, and must say this is a great place to go. We all felt the food was v.good and reasonable cost. When mother-in-law started on about her (supposed) wheat intolerence, manager got the chef to make 3 sauces all with no gluten in, to order! Try that at a beefeater, see how far you get.

We were a group of six who went to celebrate a birthday. The food was excellent, all our plates were returned to the kitchen empty!!! I had a fish dish which was devine. The waitress who was in charge of our table was lovely and so full of fun, she made the evening very enjoyable! A lovely evening was had by all.

Good atmosphere and lovely staff, but Rowlands is looking very tired and need of a bit of re-vamp. The food was very average, and vegetable selection boring. (peas, carrots and babycorn). Hadn't been to Rowlands for 5 years and wont be rushing back. I know people love the place, but there really is better out there for the price.

Would just like to say, me and my wife came here the other night and we had a fantasic time. We had a three course meal and the sarters was lovely, my fillet steak was perfectly cooked medium-rare, my wifes lamb with rosemary and garlic was very nice and tender, the puddings were delicious. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff were very polite and welcoming. Will definately be going back, would recommend to a friend and without a doubt one of the best restaurants in the whole of medway. Very Pleased.

We have been to rowlands many times, each time consuming great food. We booked for our wedding breakfast there, as it was only family & close friends attending. They done us proud, we had a great evening. Hence why we are going back for our wedding anniversary next week. Looking forward to it. Keep up the good work & friendly service. Great local place to eat. Thanks heather & paul Burnett

I must say after checking these reviews i was a little worried about going to Rowlands as some reviews were a bit off putting. However i come to my own conclusion after visiting Rowlands on Saturday evening and can say i was really pleased with the food, service, cost and atmosphere. I wouldn't say at all that the place looked like a brothal but then again i have never been to a brothal so i wouldn't know....ey Jim??? Also the people were friendly and not all over me as the other review did say but then again you could only expect that kind of service in a brothal. Maybe the next time you people like to bitch you should take the silver spoon out your arse and stop thinking you're something you're not. Stick to the brothals jim!

I agree with jim, a real low grade resturant, decor simmolar to a brothel, cramped and very warm inside. Service was excellent but food quality was awful, seemed either pre made or bought in zapped low cost food. Sadly will not be going back.

I have been using Rowlands for many many years, and have NEVER had a bad meal there at all. This small family run bistro is packed every weekend and you have to book early to ensure your table. The negative review by Jim Norman, is just that, NEGATIVE. I am very open to other peoples opinions, If you do not like the food or have had a bad experience there, then so be it, but to try and belittle people who do like it there, with his PATHETIC remark, that us folks do not 'frequent quality eateries' is total nonsence. I have had the pleasure at dining at some fine establishments in london, due to my partners business such as: Chez Gerard, The Ivy, Five, Nobu etc... and Rowlands, although different is still nice for me and my friends to dine at. I think people should go there and judge oof the own back the good quality food,at very reasonable prices, they have to offer.

Am surpised by other reviews to be honest and can only assume the authors do not frequent quality eateries that often. This was my first visit and entering Rowlands is like going back in time, dark with purple walls. The food at best is average. The menu is un inspiring and dated in both content and appearance. The food was equally underwhelming and clearly owes as much to microwaves as anything else. Staff although not un friendly can hardly be described as warm and welcoming. Will not be returning in a hurry

EXCELLENT! Plenty of choice on the menu; beautifully cooked and presented well. Staff were very friendly, but not intrusive. Atmosphere great. Non smoking...... GREAT!! (smokers were able to have a puff in the lobby) Want to go back with the 'office do' Recommended to all.
