My girlfriend and I decided to have a nice night out together and chose the Hollywood Bowl Gillingham to dine in. The restaurant was empty, except for one other family, and we automatically got placed right beside them and with the tables being so close together, it was practically like we were sitting on the other family's lap. However disrupting this was, it was even worse when the staff, who had nothing better to do then congregate around the side of the bar, kept staring at myself and my girlfriend for the duration of our stay. Surely, at a restaurant, there would be something to do to keep busy instead of standing around gawking at people eating? On one hand, the drinks we had were actually very nice, and we started to look forward to the meals ahead. My girlfriend proceeded to order the chicken caesar salad which seemed like they just took everything left over from making other dinners and threw it in a bowl of very minimal lettuce. This could have been good, if the scraps that had been put in the salad were correctly prepared. I, myself ordered steak and ribs and to my surprise the portion was a good size. After digging in to what I thought would be a very good meal, I soon found that the steak was dry and tasteless, the ribs were mushy and saturated with a sauce that left a horrible taste in my mouth, the chips and mushrooms were bland and after a few minutes of picking at my food, we decided to leave without even finishing. When asked about our dining experience upon payment, they didn't even seem to be bothered that we had issues with their service. Barely any apology was made and nothing was done to rectify the problem, leaving me a considerable amount of money lost in what we thought was going to be a good restaurant. My girlfriend and I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, ever!

At last! A restaurant that's fun whilst professional, portions that are (very) generous whilst not compromising on quality, staff who are friendly whilst polite, and a menu that encourages experimentation whilst still offering popular favourites! If you're looking for a place with an atmosphere you'll find it here - this makes it a particularly good choice for parties and celebrations. The staff are always welcoming, probably helped by the fact that the restaurant is family run. It's recently refurbished and the theming brings a little Hollywood glamour to the surroundings without the price tag! I thoroughly recommended it!

My husband took me here for a New Years Eve Meal, The food was Excellent the service outstanding and the atmosphere great, The food was cooked really well, My salmon was just right and my husbands stake was just how he likes it plus it was nice and hot, one complant far too much food, the staff were very plesent, helpfull, they could not do enough for us, I was surprised even that there were so many people there the service was very professional, as for the owners you will never meet a more sincere and genuine couple, nothing is too much for them. But that is to be expected, We have been coming here for over a year now, since the new owners took over and the shop has gone from strenth to strenth and now with the refurbishment complete it is a pleasure to dine there. Long may it last

Wow how the place has changed. The refurbishment the new owners have carried out is excellant, they have now brought the place into the 21st century. I ordered the ribs for main course which were not only huge but absolutely delicious. The service was excellant and the staff were very courteous. My wife had a seafood pasta dish with the most exquisite sauce which was so delicious and well presented by there excellant chef. I will be ordering this next time.

The best food for a long time! Family run establishment with very reasonable prices. Staff excellent, food highly recommended. It was my birthday party and i notice some women were very rude to the staff and i heard some making suggestions that they were going to complain so they could get their drinks for free. how childish! when those poor people ( staff ) were so good to everyone.I can honestly say that the HOLLYWOOD BOWL in gillingham serves the best food around. It not only serves good food , especially my HUGE burger, but the premises are so nicely done with a lot of film memorabilia. the basement ( were i had my party ) is very cosy. well worth a visit.

We went for our work xmas meal and because there were 8 of us we were told we could only order off their christmas menu.We got our starters before we had ordered any drinks then had to ask for spoons for the soup after waiting for a few minutes. Some ordered Traditional roast turkey and others ordered salmon fillet; when the food arrived the fish was dry and chewy round the edges with congealed sauce on top and as for the veg and "roast potatoes"....the veg were obviously frozen prepacked as we got a spoonful of diced carrot, peas, broadbeans(?)and green beans and the potatoes were deep fried new potatoes which were like small bullets. We complained to the owner who informed us he could not give us a refund as we had prepaid for the meal (what fools!). We accepted free drinks as compensation but unfortuneatly the cocktails were undrinkable due to flat mixers and wrong ingredients? We had so been looking forward to our night out but we weren't the only ones complaining...the table next to ours had chewy hard burgers and a steak with peppercorn sauce that tasted of lemons!! Gordon Ramsay...this is one new "kitchen nightmare" that needs your help!!
