Friendly staff, but hotel needs updating, T.V bathroom and general overall appearance. Good location, and grounds.

Two weeks ago I booked a room for three nights for a visiting German engineer. I left my credit card details, my company and my phone number. The German arrived last night and was told that the hotel was overbooked and he could only stay one night. I rang and complained and was told that when I made the reseveration the person did not have the diary in front of her. I could not be contacted because they did not have my contact details (which they actually demanded) I have never come across this before. My company has been using this hotel for visitors but never again.

Good Points: We booked a double and a twin room. Both were of a good size and quite nicely furnished. Bad Points: The hot water did not work and so were unable to have a bath and had to fill the washbasin with hot water from the shower. The shower was sufficient.

Would avoid using this venue as a Wedding Venue, food was terrible, the interior of the hotel decor has never actually left the 80's. Which is a a shame for such an old building that had been poorly atempted to be modernised. Rooms are in a state of repair and the hotel owners are more interested in your money than good service. They're are much better wedding venues for the price than Wincham. Avoid at all costs.
