Paid a visit to the Black Ladd with family, made most welcome on arrival. The service was very good and the food excellent. I had tomato soup for starters and I must admit it was without doubt the best soup I have tasted.

sorry to spoil the party ! we went for sunday lunch and had to wait about 30 minutes for our table in a rather shabby front lounge. we were then herded in to the dining room which was abit cramped and very old fashioned (and, if sat near the door, very draughty). food was pretty good, but very overpriced ie poached salmon (small) and veg was £11.25, soup £3.50, cheese and onion pie £7.50 etc. there is no set sunday lunch. almost a carbon copy of owd betts. much better value at old original and three crowns at scouthead and the alpine at denshaw

Well what can i say ... the first time we went to The Black Ladd was Oct07 and was amazed by the Quality and quantity of homemade food . It's a real treat these days to find a place that makes homemade dishes of such a high standard. The staff are so welcoming with a very good knowledge of their dishes . Wether you are a couple out for treat away from the kids or a family gathering the staff go out of ther way to make your visit one you'll want to repeat . 10/10 highly recommended
