Without doubt the best food in the Bay. The food is always high spec at excellent value indeed compared to others. The owner Nick, the staff and chef put themselves out to ensure your meal is most memorable indeed! The views from the main restaurant are amazing troo looking over the bay. All in all if you have not visited The Marina you should do so and chill and enjoy !!!

Just had a beautiful meal,at the marina restaurant. As usual, the owner nic.Was polite & very welcoming. All the staff were friendly & very helpful.I had the mushroom starter & my partner had the seafood salad Marie rose. Both were really nice.We both had the salmon, with new potatoes & vegetables.I can't praise the food up enough :-).It's my fifth time in torquay & always have a meal in the Marina restaurant.Book early,to make sure to you can get a table. We rate the food 9/10 & in my opinion. You get 5* food,at 3* prices. Thanks again nic & staff, for another lovely meal.Shane

My wife and I visited last week and had a great time here. We had the salmon main course and it was excellent. The staff were all friendly and the restaurant was immaculately clean. We will definitely visit again.

I am a regular customer, and have been for several years, and recommend it to all. The food is exellent as is the service. There is always a warm welcome from the owner Nick, and from his Front of House Leticia. I can not praise them highly enough. Every meal has been a delight. I will return soon!

On the 20th October I had arranged a lunch for a group of 34 people for the Club of which I am the Chairman. I was already a loyal customer of this excellent Restaurant but when I saw how busy the restaurant was that day I was concerned that the service would be slow and the food rushed. I no need to have worried. The staff were efficient and the food was its usual high standard, and everyone received the food they had ordered. Two ladies were on Gluten Free diets and a special sauce was made to acoompany their Baked Ham that was gluten free. From the beginning when I approached Nick, the owner, with my request to do this lunch I was treated with courtesy and professionalism. Then again yesterday My husband and I took a friend to lunch and it was as good as usual. In addition we had a lovely sunny day and sat in the conservatory and watched the Harbour while we ate. Thanks for both events Nick. We will come again

We went to the Harvesters in torquay where we have been several time on holiday in the past for lunch, and it was apparent from the start that we, as customers weren't welcome. No drinks, no smile, no effort. We beat a hasty retreat, and decided to try the Marina restaurant, whose menu I had looked at before. Atmosphere & surroundings great, wine great, service great, food great. We spent the rews of our week having lunch there. Will definitely go there next year.

The Marina Restaurant, Torquay. Great food , service, "ambience" and outlook - easily the highlight of any visit to Torquay. DO TRY the Crepes Suzette. The proprietor (Nick) cooks them at the table with more than a flash of theatre (and more than a splash of drambuie!). And if the show weren't enough, they taste devine - without doubt the best dessert we have tasted anywhere. Well done Marina Restaurant!

Nick and staff. I put my trust in you and you did us proud. Thank you for making my wifes birthday one to remember.Three months later and we still talk about what a fantastic night we had.sixty guests were all greatly impressed by the whole evening. Being in the meat industry myself, i can be very critical. I must say though that the meat was excellent and the potatoes and veg fresh and cooked to perfection. See you soon . Derek

I have to say that today we had the most amazing meal. Us and 25 guests were accomodated in the lovely conservatory overlooking the marina. The carvery was outstanding and the staff were all very attentive. The starters and desserts were absolutely sublime and a standard not befitting their modest prices. . . they really wouldn't be out of place in a top london restaurant with an extra £10 each on the price!... the Creme Brulee was particularly amazing! Everyone of our guests thouroghly enjoyed their meals and surroundings. I can't believe the poor review below as our experience could not be further from theirs. Nick was the perfect host and his food was faultless. We will definately be booking the conservatory out again in future for more christenings, birthdays and any other excuse i can think of!

My wife and I have been regular - and happy - visitors to the Marina Restaurant for many years and thus were amazed and disappointed to read the review recounting the problems experienced by Mr & Mrs Willis. We have always found the meals served to be prepared as one would hope to find them (I offer clean plates in evidence), and the first indications are that the new chef is maintaining his now-retired predeceessor's high standards. Indeed, the menus for 2010 offer a range of culinary delights. The Proprietor, Mr. Averay-Jones, has always been most welcoming; I'm sorry Mrs. W., you must have caught him on a reaaly bad day!

Having eaten at the Marina Restaurant in Torquay many times i must say the place has never let us down. My girlfriend and i enjoy the view from the conservatory which we think is the best in town. If you want a great meal with fantastic views look no further!

. Ok true the prices are reasonable but if you aren't going to eat the food then that isnt a good deal. When my husband and I visited today we had the displeasure of meeting Avery Jones, who, when I complained about the meal told me to come back outside where we had been sitting to show him our plates. Ok well I wasnt that happy to do that and found it pretty confrontational but went along with him as he is a very big man!! Once outside he lifted the remaining meat on my husbands plate off the plate and dropped it back onto the plate saying that is was prime Devon meat, trust me potential diners, it definately wasnt!! He told me that my husbands plate had been piled high with meat and that he had only left a small amount, he left a 3rd but ok I'll give you that Mr Jones. Next was my plate of barely eaten vegetarian potatoes spinach and cheese cutlets with chips and peas, this is how it was advertised but came with a tomato sauce that really was unpleasant, not asked for or mentioned on the menu and due to it swamping the plate made the cutlets soggy too. I attempted to eat it but after 3 mouthfuls decided it was not what my body needed! My biggest complaint though was 'my host' Nick Avery Jones. He stuck his finger in the sauce and said it was delicious and told me that his chefs had 50 years experience. Basically telling me as the customer that I was wrong. He barely gave me the opportunity to speak, a thoroughly unpleasant man. I have to say it was no wonder the restaurant was almost empty on a sunny Sunday lunchtime. With manners like that why on earth would any paying customer choose to go there. Running my own international food business I do think that I as the customer deserve at the very least 'I'm really sorry madam that you did not enjoy the meal'. The poor deluded man couldnt even muster that. If you want to try really good food, really good service and AMAZING views go to The Cary Arms in Babbacombe. Slightly more expensive but worth every penny.
