Good Points: The owner made us feel very welcome, offering us tea or coffee as soon as we arrived. The room was very comfortable & the tea/coffee making facilites, tissues, cotton wool & even a toothbrush were a nice touch. The breakfast choice was far better than some hotels we've stayed in.This is our first time in a guest house,we normally choose a hotel but feel it will not be our last. Bad Points: The breakfast was from 8.30 til 9 which we felt was too early. I'm on holiday & wouldn't normally choose to be up an hour & a half earlier than normal! Perhaps more flexibility would be nice. General review: I enjoyed our stay at the Varley although the walk to the quay was a bit challenging. There was no mention of this on the website and anyone less than fit might have struggled as the hotel is on avery steep hill. The breakfast was varied and most enjoyable although I would not have chosen to eat breakfast between 8.30 and 9, especially at the weekend.Dinner was an option but like the breakfast served too early at 6.30.We probably wouldn't have chosen this hotel had we known the breakfast was so early as it made for a very long day especially in the rain!!
