My, oh my! Lunch with my son's girlfriend today at her suggestion, and what a find! Welcoming, efficient service.......and most of all, fantastic food. An easy menu to follow, too. The waiter who explained the "catch of the day" was lovely. Not to mention what arrived - My Pan 3 - mussels, langoustines, and beautifully cooked fresh fish - just put my knife against it and it fell apart!! and beautifully cooked rice, not an easy thing to do in such a short time. And Kelly's Lunch Pan with sparkling fish - she'd eaten the "chips" before I could get a look in! Salads, too, crisp and delicious. Already made a date to take husband, son (in fact) our entire family to visit. Excellent!! and thank you. You will see us again soon. Robbie Bignell.

First visit by me fourth by my parents. Food was lovely & fresh and not over fussy with too many sauces. Just that bit different in taste & presentation but no gimmics. All 5 of us enjoyed beautifully cooked food - I suspect the high quality seafood has a large part to play in the quality of our meals. Staff were all excellent & attentive. Meal was good value for the quality you got & wine was not vastly over priced. With respect to "Ali" comments, please do not change atmosphere of restaurant by "tarting it up", upstairs just needs a few pictures to take away the rather plain walls. The only question that really matters is will I return - you bet I will!

First visit, absolutely great, wonderful variety of fish and non-fish too! Staff were extremely helpful and fun, service great and atmosphere very friendly. Prices reasonable for the quality. A really good night all round.

Bruce the original owner and chef is back and it shows. Food and service was great, we had the specials which were innovative and amazing. The restaurant needs a lick of paint but is still great value for money.

I thank "Ali" for his comment but note that he should approach me at the restaurant with his concerns and we can address them. According to "ALI", Famous Fish has "excellent food" and staff "pleasant" but now the decor is a problem. Can you be pleased "ALI"? Old Amersham is limited by what we can achieve with a Grade 2 listed building - but we take on board what you are saying and will look at our decor. I will say this, the food is great value for money, fish prices are going up all the time and still we consistently produce a great meal and have not increased prices for some time. Our turnover even after 9 years of trading is growing year on year and we still allow for our customers to bring there own wine with a very small corkage of 2 pounds charged from the SECOND bottle...We never sell frozen fish, all our products are made in-house and we pride ourselves on producing new specials every day. If you can find better fish in Buckinghamshire, please give me the name of the outlet - after all we are a 48 seat restaurant and our average covers per week is 688 and we close on Sundays - many outlets would love that many bums on seats!!! Well we returned to a somewhat empty restaurant which is very unusual for the 'Famous Fish'. Though I found the staff pleasant enough they kept forgetting about us (maybe it was because we were hidden in a corner). The food was excellent if not smaller portions than I remember. This was and could still be an outstanding restaurant but I feel the owner should really put time and money (a good refurbishment)into making it stand out in this little village which already has a few well established restaurants as well as new ones which have just opened up. Come on Famous Fish I know you have it in you, get that special something back!

We have been going to this resturant for a couple of years and have always loved the food, atmosphere, even the waiting staff! unfortunately the last time couple of times we were there we were hurried through our meals, our wine was left sitting without a cooler (eventhough we asked for one numerous times)and the staff were non existent. As we love the food so much we are giving it one last try this week and hopefully we will find the attention of the staff much more favorable.

Our first visit. Food was excellent. Friendly, warm welcome and we had a great evening. Bruce the owner has returned from the US and his input is just fantastic. Will be eating there again. Highly recommended

Sadly my last visit to Famous Fish after 4 years of 6 weekly visiting. Being told to hang our own coats up,having to pour our own wine and being hurried through our meal and told that they shut,at 10pm in the week was the final straw. The food remains great but unfortunately the staff/owners seem to think that they do not need to provide any more than a meal and not a whole evening out. We have had tables cleaned around us,and taxis ordered for us, without us asking, at 10pm in the evening!! Clearly not a restaurant that wants to keep it's loyal customers!! A great shame.

World Cup soccer could not keep me away from this fantastic fish restaurant. It is small but the fish is some of the best I have eaten in the world...fresh and tastefully prepared. Belinda

Great food with a good, busy atmosphere. We took our own wine which was opened without delay and they provided a cooler for the white wine. We found the waiting staff both friendly and attentive.

The food was excellent but a young South African man bullied customers and staff, which made for an unenjoyable evening. Will not return

Beautiful food but its a shame about your waiting staff. I have never ever been to a restaurant in all of my life to be told off about a meesley 15 minutes late and your restaurant was not busy and our table was still free - If you had had people queing then I might of understand the young man's comment - also I didn't know I was late and I'm not about to call on my mobile whilst driving. Wont be frequenting your restaurant again - its a shame your staff do not match your food. Real Shame. !
