We booked a table at the Bug and Spider as my daughter had been there for a meal and said that it was very nice. The Bug and Spider is walking distance from our house, so thought as a valentines treat we would eat there. We arrived and felt very out of place, there was only one table laid, this was our table. We ordered two steak and kidney puddings and one hunters chicken, the steak and puddings were so over microwaved that they were solid, mine was crisp and burnt at the bottom, my fiance`s was solid but not burnt and the hunter's chicken my son had, was dry and crisp around the outside and his veg was cold. We complained and was offered complementary drinks, the waitress offered this without hesitation, giving us the feeling that this was a normal thing. We spoke to Louise the manager and she said she would have a word with the cook. During the duration of our meal, no one else turned up, so we ate the meal in a room empty but the three of us. Lacked atmosphere. We were really disappointed and would not recommend the Bug and Spider to anyone, it was a total waste of our hard earn't money.

Our stay in a double room was very pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable and the decor was fresh. Fresh towels were laid out for us and the ensuite although a little small was more than adequate for our needs. The pub food was good value for money. The pub was a typical country one with bare floor boards and a fireplace with added to the atmosphere. The staff were very pleasant and breakfast IS included in your booking. Well worth the money if you want to stay the night. I would definitely go back if I am in the area again.

Hotel was adequate. Room was not particularly comfortable and was somewhat overpriced, especially as rate doesn't include breakfast - which smacks of penny-pinching rather than quality.
