Having stayed at the Pheasant several times over the last few years and experienced delightful food, service and surroundings we decided to stop off for a lunch as we were in the area. As soon as we entered the hotel it looked different but at that point we did not know it had changed ownership however when given the lunch menu the dissappointment set in. Poor choice and very expensive. The waiter brought our food to the table and as we were about to start eating took it away again to another table (faulty towers style). When our food did arrive the portions were small and were not particularly tasteful. A great pity this once beatiful place has been spoiled by the poor food and service it once prided itself on. We will not be back.

Very generously-sized rooms, tremendous value, wonderful food [e.g. the best breakfast we've had anywhere], peace and tranquility [no facilities for children] and all within such beautiful countryside, with so many interesting places to visit. We go two or three times a year, and each time we spend our day looking forward to the delights of the Pheasant dinner.... Can we say more?
