I was not happy with the service I received. Later on the night after attending a party me and my partner were locked out and was prevented from entering our room. We knocked several times for two hours (to be precise) and later on had to climb onto the roof and awake all the other guests to be able to get in, we got in by entering through one of the guest's window at 4:30am. This was not our fault as we asked for the main door key but did not receive one, after the bad service we recieved we did not even get breakfast the following morning. Due to this incidence I shall NOT be returning to the hotel!

The Hunters Lodge is now the NEW Hunters Lodge after yet another change of management. The current management (a most welcoming and proffesional couple) have invested much time and money in the place, and now it is looking as good as ever. Good beer, good food, (excellent prices!) and welcoming atmosphere. After a period of unproffesional management hopefully this is a new future for a fine pub. Highly recommended.

We visited the Hunters Lodge as we have relatives coming to attend a wedding in July and thought we would check out the pub and book rooms for them. However I have to say that the pub is under new "management". We bought a drink at the bar and ordered some food which was lovely, the service was average and both managers were drinking at the bar and could hardly stand, no way to run a business, friends of ours have been to the pub before and warned us ....needless to say we are looking for other accomodation for our relatives, they have children and we don't want them exposed to people like that. Avoid at all costs!!!

absolutely fantastic accommodation. me and my husband stayed here as the pub hosted my granddaughters 21st birthday and we are from surrey. upon arrival we where greeted by lovely hosts who offered there services most great fully and we where also offered a free glass of wine each to take to or room as we where attending a party there that night.we stayed in the honey moon suite which was absolutely gorgeous with fantastic views of their beer garden and fields across the road. i must also comment on how delightful the buffet was that the pub provided for the party. the party was absolutely fantastic as well. everything ran smoothly and my grand daughter even received a birthday card from all of the staff wishing her many happy returns. all in all this was an absolutely fantastic stay at the hunters lodge and i would gladly recommend this to anybody who wished to stay in the sunderland area. many thanks once again to all of the staff i throughly enjoyed my stay with you. mr and mrs mulholland

As sales Manager for a waste management company my work often takes me away from home. I have been staying for the last two months at The Hunters Lodge B&B and Rest they staff are first class nothing is to much bother it makes my stay very pleasant almost a home from home. The decor in the rooms are clean and modern I have been in quite a few of the rooms and they are all 1st class. The food is excellent and they cater for all tastes. They are improving the establishment every week and are doing wedding receptions, christenings, birthday party's I would use the facilities myself for any functions if I was based in the area great all round accommodation for work or lesuire.Top marks to all the management and staff.

1st class B&B. Not in a central location however is a short 5 min car journey from town centre. Situated in its own beautiful grounds which were delightful when it was sunny...note the stress on WHEN! What is going on with the summer weather of 07? The rooms are very comfortable, crisp and clean with a modern decor. The hosts were extreamly helpful which was very appreciated! One negative point however, the full english breakfast was delicious...bad news for the waistline! If your looking for a warm friendly clean and modern place to stay which is easy on the wallet then the Hunters Lodge is the place to stay. Sammy x

We spent the weekend at the Hunters Lodge because my husband was keen to see the Sunderland airshow. The staff were very nice and made us feel very welcome. The rooms are beautiful. If you ever visit you must check into the honeymoon suite it has marvelous views. We will definately be back to stay next year and have recommended it to all of our friends and relatives.

&BAs a business man I continuously travel around the country staying in numerous hotels. I have stayed in some of the wealthest and luxiourious hotels across the land. Imagine my horror when the company decided to put me up in a B!!! To my suprise and complete ignorance I was plesently surprised upon my arrival! The rooms were fantastic! Well decorated and very very clean! This makes my stay and journeys much more pleasent. At night time I ventured in to to the restaurant and the food was brilliant. Decent sized portions and a sensible menu...with decent prices (although the company paid for me!!!). Often traveling around the UK so much can become very lonely. But the staff here are really friendly and chatty and you can have a decent conversation with them as you become part of th family! The day I left they were very busy setting up and preparing for some function which looked amazing. Credit ought to be given here as their profession friendly service spreads out across all their business transactions. My company will definately be using these guys again. thanks bill & janine for your hospitality, good luck and see you soon! John

As a newly established B&B, we take great interest in our customers opinions and feedback...whether this is positive or negative. We strive to rectify any situations in which customers feel we could improve. Now we have had very positive feedback until now, and urge Mrs Paula J, to contact us to with your feedback and express your concerns. Looking back through the diary we have not had a customer stay with us with your name. Furthermore the dates you have specificied are not applicable in that we were actually closed as a guest house due to refurbishment comitments. As you can appreciate we are very concerned about this. Furthermore the things you have written about old and new management are untrue. We suggest if this is a personal grudge you please come forward. Having just recieved 3* status from the AA, we will continue to improve our customer service as much as possible, so please contact me with your recommendations. Thank you, Nichola Rose Functions & Reservations Manager

having booked a room at the so called hunters lodge, we was very disapointed at the service, food and not to mention the quality of the beer, we had visited the lodge under the old mangement many times, who said that they were going to start refurbishment on the rooms so when i saw that they had done them, i booked!! but to my surprise they were no longer there because of the brewery not forfilling there deal, or so i heard. the previous couple were very professional

I recently stayed at the Hunters lodge bed and breakfast. It was fantastic! We were made very welcome by all the staff. The rooms are beautifully decorated, and very very clean. The rooms overlook their large well maintained gardens which are truely delightful. We had a peaceful stay and felt very comftable. The bar and restaurant at the Hunters Lodge is fantastic serving traditional Pub Grub alongside a separate restaurant menu. We absolutely rave about this place it was fantastic. At only £45 per room per night AND including breakfast it was an absolute bargin. We recieved first class service and treatment. We recommended this place to everyone we encounted and we will definately be going back soon! Thank you Hunter's Lodge! Mrs J Elly
