We were staying at the nearby Travelodge and discovered this great London pub. We were made to feel very welcome by our barmaid Jo and had a lovely chat with the landlady too. A very well run, clean and friendly pub with a wide range of lager and keg beer. Even got to chat to the many locals too. Having driven all the way up from Cornwall for the first day of the Oval Test match it really made it a smashing trip. Great pub that we will go back too - and to top it all, England went of to win the Ashes! Many thanks all the team at the Anchor

Only in Britain could it be thought a defect to be too clever by half. The probability is that too many people are too stupid by three-quarters. - John Major
