What a joke! Probably one of the worst meals I have ever had, it was almost an embarrassment that I took my wife there, after all the mixed reviews I have read I decided to give it a go, but I'm sorry , now when people ask me for a good place, I tell them go anywhere, but NOT the chaininn!

It seems to me that whenever someone puts a good review on site for this pub - 'someone' submits a bad one. Owners are well aware that 'someone' wants to damage the reputation. Grow up !

awful, the whole experience. the attitude of the staff was appalling. the food was hours late, cold and inedible. everyone i talk to says the same. they think they re doing you a favour not that your paying for a service.

Ooh mixed bag of reviews there - seems the bad are old though so obviously before the new owners, as everyone I kno only has good things to say about this place. I have been here several times and recently went for probably the best sunday lunch i have ever eaten out! Real gravy and brilliant roast potatoes, as for getting a cauliflower cheese as well, I was absoloutely stuffed (but somehow I still managed to fit in a nice bit of fruit pie as well). I have also eaten out here on a Saturday evening earlier in the summer, the pub was rammed but the food didn't suffer because of it - we had friends from NZ over and they said the steaks were the best ever. My mates and I are almost looking forward to winter now just so we can go and have the pies!

Lovely place. good food and very friendly staff. Half a coke only 80p, not 1.60 as said in one comment. SUnday lunches are the superb- couldn't eat all mine due to the portions given and the desserts are to die for.. all home made food - a rarity these days

I have been to this pub twice since it changed owners and both times it has been lovely. The curry night was one of the best I have been to - lots of choices of curry from hot to mild. The service was excellent and staff very friendly, even when it was packed during my second visit. The food is very good value for money, large portions and the desserts are gorgeous! A beautiful setting well worth a visit!

Curry Night held on the Friday 5th June 2009 was awful, one of the worst pub meals I have tasted for a long time. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I had a great Sunday lunch here with real gravy and you even get cauliflower cheese as a side dish! Can recommend it.

They only served cooked dinners on sunday, and ALL of the food was cold, no joke. Beef was so hard my jaw had a cramp. I had 3 roasties the size of chips. £1.60 for a small glass of pop which was half filled with ice, what a rip. Although the fudge cake desert was alright, but it came with a teaspoon of cream, !

I really wouldn't recommend this place at all. bad meal after a two hour wait. I will certainly not be returning. Plenty of better pubs nearby.

WHAT a wonderfull setting, WHAT a great day out. We had a very relaxing day out at the Chainbridge Inn. Staff were very helpfull, food was delicious and the atmosphere was to die for. We sat next to the River Usk,watched the swans float down the river in glorious sun shine. We would recommend a visit.

Well worth a visit. Good food, good service, beutifull setting. Considering it was a bank holiday the efficiency of the staff was commendable. We enquired about the caravan and campsite attached, and made a booking for a week in July.

I have been to the Chainbridge several times over the years and this time will most definetely be the last. We were a party of 9 and were really looking forward to a bank holiday weekend meal but it was the meal from hell, but not just that the attitude of the staff was disgusting and abrubt and no respect for customers. We ordered our meal and was informed it would be approximately 45 mins. This turned out to be 2 hours, we ordered at 2:00pm and the food finally came at 4:00. There were no knives and forks and had to ask the waitreses twice, again their attitude was like they really couldn't be bothered. The first meal came out which was steak which was tiny and not worth the money, the chips were foul as if they had been dipped in the fryer over and over again, they tasted a few hours old and were cold and soggy with no potato in them... think it had dried up. we asked where our friends starters were and they went in search of them... normally u have your starter before your main not after, no apologies. they finally came out which were ok, my friend asked for some fresh chips and for her son and daughter in law and they brought some out but these were just as bad as the first lot and then they forgot the rest of our orders. Normally when u order a meal it should all come out together. My friends finally came and the chicken was pink, again with minging chips and the gammon was only cooked on the one side. I asked about my meal and my friends and in the end we just had enough of waiting and enough of their attitudes and asked for our money back. My meal and my friends didn't even arrive at the table. I am very disappointed as it spoilt our day in the end had to go home and cook. They said they had a new chef but surely they should sort this out especially on a bank holiday. But i went there last summer and it was the same then. Always extremely slow service. they need to get there chef's sorted, the attitude of the bar staff sorted and get them to move a bit quicker than they was on the weekend. All in all very very disappointing and a shame for a lovely pub. I would not recommend going back there for food.. maybe a drink but expect a wait at the bar.
