The hotel staff were very friendly and accomadating. I found my room was spacious, clean and tastfully decorated.

the whole hotel was/is disgustingly dirty, and it smells. The corridors have probably not been vacuumed for about 6-8 weeks judging by the dust around the doors. there was a cheese?? roll sitting on a windowcill in the corridoor. The carpets were dangerously worn. The electrical trouser press in the room (290) was broken. the tiles were cracked and dirty. The bed when sat on (after I had inspected it for bed bugs) was noisy beyond belief. I booked the hotel on this basis which I found on the website - which is in clear contravention of trade descriptions. "Situated in the town centre, this impressive hotel has been carefully restored to maintain much of its opulent Georgian splendour, whilst offering guests excellent modern comforts. An elegant hotel, it features a relaxing lounge area, spacious bar and lovely restaurant" It may have been restored in the 1960's but has hardly seen a paint brush since. The breakfast that I ordered was wrong - I was also in a hurry as I had to move my car so was unable to send it back and change it due to time factors. I did complain to the receptionist as I was leaving, surprise, surprise the manager was not available! My whole experience was of revulsion.
