I was visiting the Northallerton area for a couple of days and didn't fancy driving back and forth between there and home in York, so picked the White Rose Hotel for an overnighter. It's half a mile from the A1, very convenient for the north-south traveller, but unlike those soulless budget hotels run by the big chains, this was more like staying in the village pub. In fact, it is the village pub, with a modern bedroom extension built on the back. The food was excellent, and above all the staff very friendly and professionally attentive. There was a very nice feel about the place. I thought it was very good value, and I would definitely stay there again if I was in the area.

Used the White Rose as an useful place to stay, while visiting family who had travelled to the North-East from Bristol. Found the staff very friendly and helpful. Only ate breakfast, which was good. Used the hotel as a place to rest our heads after a busy day out with family, and found it good value. Facilities may be basic, but everything you require is provided. Will certainly consider using the hotel again in the future.

cleanliness not on top of there agenda, miserable staff. evening food was good. 5 of us stayed 2 nights and spent over £600 they then charged £9 to return an alarm clock that only cost £1.50 to send in a second hand jiffy bag. shame really as we go to croft race circuit 4 times per year and always stay 2 or 3 nights, won't be stopping here again though.
