I went together with a friend to the Crooked House for a bar lunch. We arrived at 1pm and went into the lounge. We looked at the menu and the veggie burger was described as having a veggieburger in a bun together with home made pickles, onion rings, salad and chunky chips, sounded good so we ordered 2 together with a coffee and a coke. The order was placed at nine minutes past one, we know this because the barman wrote this on the receipt. Well we waited and waited and after asking where our meal was it eventually arrived at 1.55pm. I should add the barman was rushed off his feet having to serve in the bar and lounge. Well the meal arrived and all I can say was it was awful. The burger was very dry and we are convinced it was made from those powders you can get and just add liquids. It was certainly very thick and the bun was large but just cut in half and the burger pushed in the middle, so very dry indeed. My bun was soggy on the bottom. The onion rings were skewered into the bun. There were no pickles just a few oily salad leaves and frozen chunky chips. The onion rings were battered and very greasy and cutting into them it was hard to find any onion. We both ate a few mouthfulls and just left the rest. Now this cost just under £16 so expensive. Only good thing was the coffee was good. We would have complained to the barman but he was rushing about so much he wasn't about. So we gave up and left. All in all the worst pub meal I have ever had.

On my first visit to the crooked house I was very amused on seeing it. But after my first drink the amusement soon wore off after waiting half an hour We used the phone number off the menu to phone the bar staff for some service, Only to be met by the bar staff very rude shouting she had she had three bars to serve and food in the restaurant (My fault I don’t think so I only wanted a drink) Other people walked out fed up of waiting to be served. Then after all the waiting they ran out of my drink. Not very welcoming.
