The Gauntlet is very much a locals pub. It is very friendly and does a nice beer. The interior is old fashioned and the pub a bit run down however they do good kareoke and quiz nights. Have three darts teams, Crib and Dom teams and a football team. The landlady and bar staff are all very friendly and some V.attractive! Everyone knows everyone in there but they welcome outsiders and are not off putting. They also allow children in there, there is pool and table tennis, all sky TV channels and free hot dogs in the half time of England games! Nice big patio garden with shaded areas. A weekly meat raffle is also drawn on a Sunday and the meat comes from the butchers on Albion street who have a fab reputation. Would reccommend popping down for a drink, dont be put off by the run down appearance as the people inside are great! Dont p**s off the bar staff and you will be fine as the regulars will all stick up for them, only what i have heard! not experienced! Although they seem to be able to handle themselves very well anyway and have no problem chucking people out or barring them!

The most appalling experience that we have had in many a year. The staff cannot control the customers in a reasonable manner and to be confronted with a masculine presence in the ladies toilets is unacceptable and for my wife to be told to f--- off when asking why the male person was inside the ladies toilet facility was totally unacceptable. Having confronted the person responsible for this action, to be threatened by his friends was disconcerting to say the least and to have the staff support the perpetrator of the offence has made me reconsider my choice of hostelry particularly as I was unable to contact the management by telephone due to their refusal to receive incoming calls. Since returning to Kenilworth I have met many old friends at the Gauntlet an will miss not being able to continue with this opportunity in the future. I hope that others within the esablishment appreciate what has been stated within this document. I would be interested to hear from the management should they wish to contact me. Jonathan R Nixon
