Previous visits to the pub had proved to be enjoyable, and good value for monet tasty food. Not so this time, the experience couldn't have been more different! We called in the previous week to ask if we needed to book as there would be around 15 of us for lunch on the 12th December. No need to book, so we arranged to arrive around 11.30am. On arrival, there was one other group of 5 in the pub. We handed the barman our food orders to make things easier. We grabbed our drinks, and sat down for a natter before lunch. 15 minutes later, waitress informed us it would be 45 minutes before any food was ready as we hadn't pre-ordered so nothing was ready! an hour and a half later the unsmiling waitress finally started bringing out the main courses, with no word of apology for the delay. I returned my food as it was raw in the middle, the replacement meal wasn't much better! In effect I payed £5.95 for 10 chips and a mouthful of salad! Another had steak and ale pie, but we couldn't find the ale, another had dumplings which were cold in the middle. One of our party came in later after an appointment, and was told she would have to wait another 45 minutes befoer she got food, as ours was just about to be served, she didn't bother ordering. While we we there, another family came in, tried to order food and were told there was no chips ready so they would have to wait at least 45 minutes for food. Needless to say they left! All this in a virtually empty pub, barring my group of 12. The poor overworked waitress and barman never once cracked a smile in this season of good cheer! Not somewhere I would reccomend any more.
