As many other places to eat were busy at lunchtime, when walking past this pub it seemed empty (in hindsight we should have realised why!!)we decided to stop for lunch. The waitress warned us that the chilli con carne was hot but this was way way past spicy, almost unedible, smothered on potato skins which tasted like they had been cooked and reheated in the microwave. The salad accompanying this meal was wilted and black at the edges, which if they were happy to send this out the kitchen it beggers belief what was happening behind the scenes (watched too many kitchen ramsays, i think). The chicken dish was hard and rubbery and ham fatty and overly salty. The kids ate cheese burgers which they enjoyed but didn't look too appetising, throughout the meal we had the pleasure of the bar staff larking around at the empty bar and listened to tales of drunken nights outs, just what we wanted to hear with 2 young children, family of 4 plus 4 drinks (1 alcoholic the rest soft drinks)costs £40.00 we have been to many pubs for lunch and had to rate this one the worst. It was mid week during term time so maybe its better if it was busier but we wont be going back!!!

Excellent time ... had a lovely meal and were then treated to a musical evening with a fine male singer/guitarist. The pub had a warm buzzy atmosphere. Eill definitely re-visit.

Wonderful, what a find!. Happened to be in Southwold and walked past the Kings Head and noticed new signs. Seems the place has had ahuge makeover and worth it, excellent food and a good pint of adnams made for a superb lunch. We have been to Southwold since 1989 and the kings head was always a bit run down. Not any more though - reccommend
