This place gets better and better - the food is still excellent and the service is still top class. Took my husbands parents and they thought it was tremendous. Don't understand the last comment about too few chips - you can have as much extra chips vegetables or salad as you want at no extra charge! Will definitely return again and again and by the looks of how busy it is a lot of others agree!!

used to be really good value but after the refit the portions are more the mean, large luxury surf and turf was a joke and only came with 13 chips. I wont be going again to the expensive mean Countryman

Wow, what a gem of a place and in Kirkby as well. Can't believe we have been travelling to restuarants and we have one on our door step. The decor is lovely and the welcome and staff, we could not fault at all, will definitely go back again and again. Staff very attentive throughout the evening. There was a bit of a wait for food which is to be expected when your meal is cooked fresh, so if your looking for the fast food experience may I suggest Mcdonalds or the chip shop. I thought the food was lovely and it was good value for money. I can highly recomend this place.

Couldnt believe the transformation of the place. The decor and surroundings are beautiful. Really enjoyed our meal - it was first class. I can understand why there would be a wait during busy times as you can tell it is all cooked from fresh. Good choice of wines from different countries. Lovely welcome from the landlady who showed us to our table and even introduced our waitress which we thought was a nice touch. The waiting on staff have obviously been trained well as I noticed that everyone recieves full attention during their meal. Would definitely go back and would recommend this place to anyone.

Nice place very nice surroundings, lovely modern looking decor. Table was booked for 8:30pm. very pleasant reception from the bar staff, we were shown to our table about 15 minutes early, we placed our order at about 8:20. We were informed the meal would take a little longer as all the food was cooked from fresh, this was fine. 45mins later the waiting staff came to see if we were ok and to see if we wanted to order any more drinks, they had clearly noticed our wait was excessive, we mentioned we were unhappy with the wait, the waitress apologised and said the chefs were very busy in the Kitchen. My husband said it was a longer wait than we would have expected at this point he wasn't a happy chap, the waitress asked the manageress to come and speak to us, the manageress came and told us the food is cooked fresh so we would have to wait at least 45 mins and it says so in the menu, we were then dismissed by her. The wrong food came out to us 5 minutes later, when our order did arrive the Cajun chicken was processed and chicken wings were bulk frozen. the steak was mediocre and we were offered more veg if we wanted it. At this point the meal was spoiled so we ate up, paid for our food and left the dinning room. We had a drink afterwards in the bar as it was now too late to travel to another pub. upon leaving the bar staff said a pleasnat goodnight to us.

Very impressed with decor, food of good standard could improve if there was a choice of fish dishes without sauces. Wine list very restricted (ok if you want Australian) Ladylady not very friendly but rest of staff are excellent
