From my previous review of October 15th 2007.It is not the same at the Newton, nearly a year on.It is even better.Excellent value for money, especially when the present money situation is stretched.Staff are terrific.Very interesting pub, that shuld be well supported.Others are shutting down. This one seems to be getting stronger.Pay it a visit. You will go back.

We ordered 2 rib eye steak meals, with a sauce as an extra. One was passable but the other was burnt,in fact cremated would be a better description.I complained and after some debate as to why it had been served like that, when I had requested it be cooked medium reluctantly the waitress took it away.I waited 20mins for a replacement, which did not resemble rib eye at all and consequently I left most of the meal.We have been customers of the Newton Arms for over 30 years as we live quite close, within walking distance, but we will never go in there again, unless some radical improvements are make to the food and the staff who were offhand to say the least.I have been in touch with trading standards who are going to investigate.
