Best rates for a Local Hotel

Make sure you get the room you've booked. As far as we were concerned our booking was for a suite with a lounge area and 2 bedrooms and a bathroom off it. However the discussions at time of booking clearly meant nothing. When we arrived we were given 2 hotel rooms with a shared bathroom on a small landing in the attic. Each room had a bed but no additional seating of any kind. The landing was essentially open to a small staircase and was 5 flights up. Then we were offered another room but still not the type we had booked. Eventually we got both - not an ideal solution , the suite we had booked was apparently occupied by someone else! Not a good start to a relaxing family weekend and not what you expect from a five star hotel. This was all compounded by having to trek back and forth through pouring rain as Hotel Number Ten is run by the hotel 2 doors down - you also need to go there for the bar and breakfast. (Not mentioned on the website). Having since seen reviews for the hotel we now know we are not alone and others have had similar experiences. So be warned.

Five stars? Fours stars? Three stars? Not even that! Small room on the fifth floor without elevator. Bar: Yes. Closes at 12.00 p.m. Else? Nothing. Our night mare: A fire. We would never have found an escape. And that is really serious. Soap was not renewed after having used it. But: Expensiv. Too much money for no service. Scotish hotels are too expensiv and there is no service consciousness. But number ten tops them all.

Five stars? Never ever! Our room was very very small, the bed also and in the tiny little wash basin in our bathroom it was even difficult to clean your teeth. But this was not the worst. The noise of the central heating system filled our days and nights with pleasure and there was a huge fridge nearby our room where everybody picked up ice cubes until two o'clock in the morning... naturally with a lot of noise. But the best thing of all: When we disclaimed they told us "You booked a double room, you got a double room. Hotel is full. Sorry." If this is exceptional, it's exceptional bad.
