I popped in to check the place out for a potential family weekend visit. menus looked good if a bit pricey. There is a point which will stop me going. The childrens menu is awful. chicken nuggets? fish fingers? cheesy pasta stars?? I will not feed my kids rubbish like this, I do not understand why places do not cater for youngsters. My local pub, the Compass Inn in Winsor will do smaller meals of almost anything on the menu. Please improve the youngsters menu and you may get more families in!

I am glad to be able to remove any negative comment form the latest review. I organised a Dinner here for 21 people and the staff could not have been more helpful. The food was excellent, with generous proportions, and the wine reasonably priced. Despite the large number, everyone was served at the same time and individually looked after. The restaurant has a fresh decor and a good atmosphere. We shall certainly return to this "gem" in the Forest!

I have to say this was the worst evening out i have experienced in a long while. Myself and a friend went for a quiet chat in what we thought was a friendly welcoming pub - not the case. We ordered two glasses of wine and were presented with two huge glasses which cost us almost £10, we were not given the choice of a small or large glass. We were just given large. At 10am the lights were being switched off and a strong smell of detol was wafting in our direction as tables were being cleaned around us. By 10.20pm we were told by who i can only assume was the pub owner that she was closing the pub early as we were the only people there and i quote "there is no point keeping the electricity running when there were not many people there" - how rude. We were astonished. You would think in this current climate she would be only too keen to keep our custom. We were thinking of ordering another drink but were obviously not allowed. Even the car park lights were turned off, we struggled to find our car in the large remote car park. We will never go there again. The owner needs some training on customer service and how to promote a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The food was good and the staff very nice and friendly. However, the management made us feel unwelcome and rushed us through our meal as we were a large party. Put it this way some were finishing there starter for the main to follow promptly. Three courses in 1 1/2 hours. They obviously neeeded our tables. As a result many members of the party were unimpressed. It was a special occasion and the evening ended on a sour note as we couldn't wait to pay the bill and get out

Overpriced and pretentious. A stack of big 'chips' doesn't make it a Gastro pub.

Amazing! Fantastic atmosphere, stylish and beautifully decorated. Friendly and welcoming. But more to the point, some of the best food I have ever tasted.
