The food here is that little bit special. Very large portions and cooked to perfection. Very friendly welcome and lovely atmosphere. 10 out of 10!

As a customer for at least three years I can honestly say the same staff work there as before and they are just as attentive and helpful as they have always been and if anything the place seems much happier now. The food is second to none and the veg is not cooked in a microwave! they also have catered for many parties of more than thiry persons with no complaints at all, only further pe-bookings. thank you.

Reading the last review of the Maypole I dissagree with the comments made. Myself and my husband regularly eat and drink in the Maypole and found that in the last four months, the service and food has improved. There is a wider selction on the menu of fresh produce and the staff seem happier in their work. The food has always been up to standard every time I have eaten there! but dont take my word for it,try it out for yourselves and ignore the last review and make up your own mind as I think it is unfair, I am sure that the new Landlord and Landlady would be happy to accomidate you.

In reply to your visit in November 06. It is unlikely that you recieved bad service and even more unlikely that the food was as you said. Since taking over in September we have had alot of brilliant feed back regarding the quality of food, the food has improved and the atmosphere is much more friendly. It is very sad that you did not make your feelings known to a member of the Maypole team, but chose to comment in this way.The way this comment has been writtan rings a few alarm bells as it sounds as the writer has a touch of sour grapes. May we assure anyone who visits us that they will recieve a very warm welcome and excellent service and if you choose to eat with us the food will be of a very good standard.Mandy and Neville, LandLady and Landlord, The Maypole Inn.

What a lovely old pub ~ however, the owners who had it from 2003 have now left and the new owners just don't seem to understand the word "service". The food was luke warm, vegetables clearly overcooked by microwave but the meat was good. A pub is made by the welcome and departure ~ unfortunately, the Maypole does not have that same warm welcome from two professionals that it had previously. Don't book for more than 6 of you, it comes out fragmented ~ microwave space I expect.
