My daughter and I visited this place on recommendation on Sunday. Awful! First the bill was wrong. Queried it but no-one came back to us. My daughter had the salad but only very little, all past its best, left in the salad bar. This was 2.30pm. After waiting 20 minutes I had to ask for my soup. My daughter's steak arrived and turned out to be 160z instead of 8oz - hence the overcharge. We got the manager over to sort this out; amount eventually refunded, steak taken away & correct steak sent for, meantime chips left on table to get cold. I then went for my carvery. No-one there to serve. Choice was the end piece of extremely rare beef (I would have cut this up for the cats) or two pieces of chicken. When someone eventually came along to serve I expected they had gone for further supplies, but no, this was all there was, he had apparently told them a while before that there were no more carvery meals, I could have another meal if I wanted to. Having waited so long for the soup and my daughter's (wrong) meal, I couldn't face going back to the ordering stage again, so opted for the beef. THE FOOD WAS AT BEST LUKEWARM AND AT WORST COMPLETELY COLD. It seems that the carvery had been turned off, so nothing was kept hot, but I wasn't told this before taking my plate, nor before paying for the carvery, and clearly it must have been turned off by the time we had paid and ordered otherwise it wouldn't have been so cold. My food was inedible, I had to borrow my daughter's steak knife in order to attempt to cut the beef but still couldn't cut/eat it. Ball of stuffing as hard as a golf ball, couldn't even eat the veg. The table of ten behind us walked out without having their meal, other people were complaining at the salad bar being virtually empty. Manager couldn't have cared less - no refund, no apology. Nothing would tempt either of us in there again.

My mother and father recently visited as a christmas present. the main course was 'ok' but pudding was 'awful', profiteroles with 'green cream' in the middle, which had clearly gone off. after taking both puddings back they were still charged for 1 of them!!

I have recently visited the Four Mile house and I couldn't fault it! The staff are very friendly and they all create a warm atmosphere. I indulged in the very popular carvary with my husband and two sons. Its clear this is a favourite with the locals! A lovely place to eat and I will definatly be returning.

We went here a few years ago and said we would not return as food was awful. But since then it has changed hands a few times and we decided to give it another try. The staff were friendly and the food was great, we all had a carvery, loads of vegetables to choose from and three choices of meat. Would definitely recommend and return again.

After going to the four mile house today I would NEVER go back. My son wanted spag bol. As the waitress handed my 8 year old son the plate it went all over the slatted wooden table, in the beer garden. That was lucky as he had shorts on and couldve easily burnt his legs. He dropped the plate because it was BURNING his fingers! I ordered a chicken madras. It was cold so I sent it back. As I walked back to my table there was something gritty in my mouth. I fished it out and it looked like GLASS. I pressed it on my side plate and it made the same scratchy noise as glass. My son got his new spag bol and my hubby got his steak. Still my food had gone back and my other sons pizza hadnt even arrived. I told the waitress I had glass in my food, and gave it her on the side plate. I asked her if it was a different curry and she told me it was. I wanted to know before launching my self into it! My 9 year old boys' pizza came and it was, no word of a lie..... STONE COLD. He'd already eaten about a third of it!! My hubby asked to see whoever was in charge. The manageress was really lovely and said we wouldnt have to pay for the food, and that it probably wasnt glass but plastic. (It was glass lol) Passing an 8 year old a burning hot plate, glass in my food, cold curry, and feeding a stone cold pizza to a 9 year old. Not my idea of perfection. Anyway... we ended up leaving and picking up a McDonalds on the way home. So much for the meal :-(

We have used this place for a meal twice now in the last two months - the first time the waitress forgot to put our order in so we were kept waiting for our meal for over an hour which is definitely not appreciated. Last night we arrived and ordered our food - after ordering a seconfd round of soft drinks we were informed by the waitress that we would not be able to have our food as the cook / chef had walked out !! We were given our money back and sent on our merry way!! Unbelievable and we are locals. No manager or supervisor in sight !! NOT RECOMMENDED.
