We had a wedding party on 25 June which was a hugh success due to the excellent food, ambience and the great service of the staff headed by Alex. We highly recommnend the venue to anyone who expects to enjoy a stress free event.

Haven't been to the Theydon Oak for some years when it was the premier restaurant in the area, until today. As I was uncertain as its current standards, I decided to play itv safe and eat from the specials board - the roast of the day. There was confusion when taking my order at the bar. When the meal arrived I was presented with a plate containing three thin slices of cold pork, a small yorkshire pudding, three roast potatoes which were hard rather than crispy and which required a better knife than the one they gave me to cut, what appeared to half a packet of frozen peas, some edible carrots and some cabbage which had not been properly drained and which weakened whatever taste the gravy had had. My plate was not collected when I finished and hence I left before considering a dessert. The two waitresses were too busy chattering.

I took my family for Sunday lunch to the Theydon Oak. The party included two young children. The Christmas decorations together with the wonderful collection of brass and copper created a charming ambience and the food was first class served by a friendly and efficient staff and very reasonably priced. My wife and I have visited this venue many times over the past twenty five years or more and have never been disappointed and look forward to many more visits in the future.
