Looks can be deceiving, We thought we would stop in as it is only 1 mile up the road, but never again. the outside of the pub looks great but once we got in it was so dead and it was 7pm normally any good pub or restaurant is quite busy at this time and thats when i had a feeling usually there is a reason a pub is quiet and i was right. We weren't greeted. We had to find a waiter and ask what to do, she just said sit where you, we then went on and found a seat, waited around 15mins but no one came so i then found out we had to order from the bar. I had the mixed grill and my partner had the bbq chicken melt. we got the food in good time but it was horrible I left my steak because it was rock solid, even though i asked for medium well, the chicken tasted of nothing, the pork chop smelt and tasted funny and my partners chicken was dry with no flavour watso ever. the waiter didn't even bother to come and ask if it was ok, but nether did " this has never happened to me before usually they get you with a mouthful lol" so we waited and waited but no one came in the end we just got up and left, the waiter look at us still didn't ask and didn't even say thank you for coming it was just silence so we just walked out and we don't plan on coming back anytime in the near future. I wouldn't recommend wasting you money here I think i will stick to the smuglers haunt in ferndown or the fox and hound in wimborne!!!

This is the first review I have ever written, but after our terrible meal it had to be done . We were all looking forward to our sunday carvery with some old friends 5 children in tow. We all agreed we had never eaten a such a tasteless meal, since school dinners! It wasn't actually a carvery, a choice of beef turkey or pork. The meat was disgusting and reheated, the carotts were like ready prepared mini ones possibly frozen but rock hard, a solid piece of colliflower and two tiny roasties. Most of us left the majority, even the children who ordered the usual favourite fishfingers peas and chips wouldn't even touch the rock hard chips! The two nine year olds who would normally easily polish off an adult sized carvery both agreed they could cook better themselves. The ketchup sachets were just thrown at the table by a miserable waitress, and the children were not offered the colouring sheets and crayons which were available - so they helped themselves in the end. For our annual get together, this so called meal totally spoilt the day. I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy! There - phew have got it off my chest !!

The Fish and Chips my husband ordered were apparently delicious. However the chicken and bacon salad I ordered was poor and quite boring. The tomatoes were barely ripe; there was a lot of corsely chopped onion; thick slices of cucumber; one type of lettuce and I had to ask for the crutons as they were missing from the dish.Thecharming waitress apologised profusely for this ommision. The bacon and chicken were both O.K. I was most disappointed. I thought the dish was overpriced. I have eaten at this Pub on a previous occasion and was pleased with my meal.

Having been to this pub a couple of times within the last few days, a third visit was supposidly due on the basis of previous good impressions. Am sad to say that whilst the menu from the outset appears to be comprehensive with a very good selection of mouth watering dishes, the product extremely poor. I ordered the lasagne for approximately £7.00. First impressions were that the portion was very small and on tasting it, was the equivelant of eating a cheap supermarket microwavable product i.e. completely tasteless and sugary! I have made a better lasagne in my slow cooker. My father had the soup of the day which was Brocolli. My father being a modest person decreed that it was ok. On tasting it, well!? Staff appeared to be inefectual and certainly didn't enquire as to whether we were enjoying our meal and that is just as well since unfortunately, would have gone to town.. poor choice of bar

Came to Ferndown to visit family, whilst there went to the Pure Drop for lunch,we found the pub to have a very relaxed atmosphere, very nice decor. We were made very welcome by friendly and polite staff. The food was very nice,on time and reasonably priced,so much in fact, we even returned there for our evening meal.I had the cowboy sizzler which i would very much recommend. We are revisiting Ferndown very soon and will definitely be dining again at the Pure Drop.

Would definitely recommend this pub to anyone. The refurbishment looks great and the pub has an overall warm and relaxed atmosphere. The staff were particularly friendly and more than happy to help in any way. The food arrived quickly on hot plates and tasted just as good as it looks. This pub is also a great place for families, as it has a well balanced children's menu and the staff interact really well with kids. Dessert orders were taken at the table and also came really quick. I had the lemon panna cotta and it was delicious, best lemon dessert I've had.

A friend of mine invited me to go out for lunch to the Pure Drop. I was pleasently surprised. Had a main course and desert for £4.25 (a Monday/Tue and Wed 2 course deal)!! It was excellent! The apple pie tasted homemade. Actually,it was one of the best apple pies I have tasted in ages. The service was very effitient and friendly. I will definately go there again

after organising our christmas dinner this year at the pure drop i was very dismayed at the service, one of our party's were informed that drinks would be taken at the table, after waiting what seemed an age they were then informed by a waitress that they were too busy to do this now and that all drinks after the first round were to be got at the bar! there was only 3 tables in the whole reasturant other than us! The whole service was very slow and when dinner finally arrived the plates were freezing!!and the desserts still frozen!! I do hope the second group that are booked have a more satisfying service than the first, what did make them chuckle was this dinner was booked at lunch time!!! lord knows what it would have been like if it was a busy evening service!!

After visiting the pure drop to book a table for 14 people. I was very disappointed to be told that they could'nt take the booking as it was a 'big table' anything over 10 people is classed as a 'big table' and they were not able to do it. Glad to see the recession has'nt hit Ferndown yet that they can turn away 14 covers! Very disappointed Their loss is the Smugglers Haunts gain!!
