A view from the bar. The Stan Laurel. The Stan Laurel or Bernard as I like to call it is under new management, and for those who have taken time from their busy ether-lives to read my ramblings before you know how I love to hand out my thoughts on what new management should do to re launch a public house which has sadly fallen from the map. So let me tell you all, the new people at the Stan haven’t put a foot wrong in my book and it is obvious by the amount of punters flowing back in through the doors I’m not the only one thinking that way. They have spent a heap of time bringing the interior of the pub back up to standard and when I went in they even had the lights on, which is a lot different to the last time I was in only two months ago. They told me that Sunday lunches have already started so I put a few feelers out to find out what they were like a few days later and I was told the food was ‘outstanding’ and the service was great as was the service from the bar with more than one person commenting on how well kept the beer is. I couldn’t agree more, I personally stuck with the Ulverston brewery selection when I visited and loved it. It’s another fantastic idea to stick with the Stan Laurel theme and think the pub will become a flagship for Ulverston Brewery Ales as well as all the other guest brews they are going to serve. The Stan is back and in very good hands so to all in rantland, Get yourselves in enjoy the food the beer and the fantastic welcome you are guaranteed at The Stan, To Trudy and Her husband; I as with the rest Rant crowd wish you every success in this new venture and hope your hard work is rewarded with a full house, full pockets and full hearts. I only wish I had not consumed all that ale as walking straight and upright became a problem in the fresh evening air. All the best to one and all (The still hung-over) Lardy pub man.
