Well I went to this pub 3 years ago, I didn't want to come back, but as we stayed in the caravan site I thought I'd try it once more. My sister who lives near by said that it had changed hands and that it is now a brilliant place to go for food. Here goes... Bad Points (1) One of the waitresses is still a bit abrupt, we got talking to her over our holiday though and she was a very nice lady. Her manerisms may be construed as slighty rude. (2) Sometimes was too busy to get a table to eat and if not booked by the evening it wasn't very likely to get a table. Best to get the bad points over first. Good points (1) The staff behind the bar were very chatty and approachable, good with the kids and they chatted with us. Made us feel very comfortable. (2) THE FOOD! WOW, what an improvement. THE STEAKS, Rump and Sirloin were cooked to perfection. Try and catch the Chef LAURA thou, the other one is okay but I find Laura's cooking a lot more rich. (3) THE LOCAL ALES! I don't drink ales but the Mr does and he loved the fact that they had a different guest ale every week which he could try before he bought. (4) The beer garden has a lot more tables, its a sun trap but also caters for the people that like the shade. (5) The local bands, most Fridays and Saturdays, and I think the odd Wednesdays there were bands on, from SKA, Jazz, Indie, Rock and Pop. Kids loved it and I must admit I did have a good old boogie. Discos are fairly regular in the summer too. It also has brilliant history, pictures and storys from locals, can see how its developed. After being reluctant to go to this pub I found myself taking my family there nearly every night. Brilliant atmosphere, nice, warm decor and homemade, proper food. Enjoyed the entertainment too. Will be back next year!

We went for a birthday meal and ordered 5 steak meals, asking for the steaks to be well done, Well they came out 20% cremated. and my steak was nothing but fat and gristle so i complained to the bar staff (of which i was offered my money back for the full meal and got it £13.95. The onion rings were also over cooked to a crispy cornflake. We spent Nearly £85.00 on drinks and food. The lady who brought out our meals must of been running "DRAGON CONTROL" she was a very bad mannered woman with bleached white hair in her 50's we asked for mustard and she brought it, then my daughter asked for salad cream as she was walking away she turned around really fast "EYES BULGING" like marty feldman and "SNAPPED of "ANYTHING ELSE" well that was real bad waitressing. The pub was a nice well decorated pub on a mariners theme as you would expect called the ship inn. But i would never go there again.
