Just moved to Nantwich and arranged to meet my fiance for a drink at 5pm at this pub. Arrived there at about 4.30pm and parked in the pub car park. The car park says "Pay and display" but there is NO meter to pay and no signs saying where to pay. Nipped into town to get some cash from the ATM and on returning to my car find it clamped!! I rang the clamping agency and had to pay £83 to get my vehicle unclamped. Upset at this I went home and rang my fiance, who then went to the pub car park to see for himself. It turns out that the "pay and display" means you need to get a ticket from within the pub - great when I got clamped before the pub opened. My fiance spoke to the landlady/owner stating that:- 1. How can you clamp people on a pay/display when there is no opportunity to purchase a ticket? 2. Why is there no notice stating "all cars will be clamped outside of pub opening hours" (or the like) The owner "Adam" was very flippent - "I pay the clampers to enforce my carpark, its not my problem!" Well - if you are reading this and are thinking about frequenting the Shakespeare - I would either walk or try an alternative pub in the area - believe me there are plenty of great one.
