The Drum & Monkey is situated at the end of a quiet terrace in Alderley Edge, within sight of the wooded hillside from which the village gets it's name. The interior combines traditional pub character with a modern "Gastro-Pub" feel and there is a good ambiance with a mix of long-standing regulars and passers-by frequenting the establishment. On the night that we visited the place was pretty well full but the Manager found us a table by the window overlooking the bowling green. I will book in future because clearly this is a popular place. The food was very well prepared and presented and was extremely good value for money. I can heartily recommend the lamb shank in redcurrant sauce whilst my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the lasagne dish. The staff are friendly and helpful and The Drum & Monkey provides a very good alternative to the "celebrity" venues on the village high street.
