You have to speak as you find and the four of us had lunch (2.00pm) sitting and found it really lovely. We weren't seated till 2.30ish but had a drink while we were waiting so no problem. The food was piping hot and really tasty. The gravy ran out so I asked if there was more, this was brought out about 10 seconds afterwards. The plates were huge (far bigger than Toby Carvery)and food piping hot and delicious. Service good and waitresses polite. NO complaints. ALL positive! We would certainly recommend, and eat there again.

We have dined at this establishment on a number of occasions but not for some time. Having read the somewhat damming reviews I started to have second thoughts but as I was short of time to find another venue, I decided to book anyway relying on past experiences. I am incredibly pleased I did, the food was still superb, the staff were still pleasent and helpful, everything ran on time and the place was beautifully presented and imaculate. I can only say one would have to look for a long time in this area to find a comparision, let alone better. I will continue to use The Wheel and would reccomend it to anyone.

Our son and new wife had their wedding reception at The Wheel. The food was superb, the waitresses were first class and did everything they could to make sure everyone had a good time. There were a lot of people there and everyone said what a lovely pub, praised the food and thought the landlord and landlady were very professional.

We were there the same Sunday as the previous people. It was an utter shambles! Everything was running really late (to make us buy overpriced drinks while we waited perhaps)The staff were really slow and seemed disorganised. Having spoken to several people who were there, including a man who said he was a regular we were told that although the food was usually good it was nearly always late, and the turnover of staff was huge. A different face nearly every week due to the foul temper and language of the bosses. The good reviews seem to be written by friends and family of the owners and the rest tell the truth. It used to have friendly faces, good staff, and a good atmosphere. Not any more. Perhaps the hint given by a member of the staff that there could soon be a a change of ownership is a good sign.

we booked on friday for a sunday carvery and where to we would be in the bar,we have been there before quite a few times with no problems,we had booked fo 2pm and where told it would probably be about 20 past when we could go upto the carvery no problem with that nice to see a busy pub we then waited till just after 3pm no problem with that when my wife and daughter went to the carvery they had run out of roast potatoes and only had enough cauliflower cheese for 2 of our party of seven when my wife asked if there was anymore potatoes or veg was told that the previous people had been greedy and thats all he had and then to add insult to it he told her he would take a £1 per meal how can you have a roast meal with no roast potatoes and only limited veg we will no be going back in the hour we waited they could have cooked not just shrugged his shoulders and told us basicly tough luck take it or leave it and before any bright spark remarks on us being whingers we did not sit there complaining but came out of the pub and went to another resturant where they wanted our custom and money .

The staff are definitely the rudest I have ever encountered anywhere! The landlady is not only rude but her language is vulgar! There seemed to be a lack of customers there and when I enquired about a music night (as is advertised on the web site ) I was told they did not have them any more because it upset the older drinkers! What about the rest of us? The barmaid seemed more interested in dancing round the landlord and all in all it was an experience I will not be repeating.

Worst experience we ever had. we were met at the road side forced through the door to a table which was designed for four but was set for six people. we were hurried to the cArvery which was ok. the pub has three sitting by their own admission making it impossible to be sociable to our guests . a terrible wedding aneversary dinner. we will not return or recommend this eatery to anyone.

never will i book in here again, we had a table booked and sadly due to a family illness had to cancel, after explaining our situation and asking to re-book, the lady on the other end if phone became very rude, would not allow me to re-book there and then, asked for us to call back another day, then promptly hung up on me. we shall not re-book, and although people say the food is nice, the customer service is discusting, not only did they loose our table booking, they lost future customers too.

Never will I return to The Wheel, Wisbech St.Mary again. I had no problem with the food, it was lovely, but in my opinion there's no point in having a lovely meal if the service to go with it is vulgar... and quite frankly that is what it was. The waitresses were rude to at least 6 members of my party and more than once to several of these people. Simple questions like "please may we open a window?" were answered in a rude and out of order way. I would like to point out however that this wasn't all of the staff, only two of the waitresses, but equally it was unacceptable behaviour that i wouldn't expect of a 6 year old yet alone grown women.

What a wonderful little haven this is! I spent 4 days here and felt so very welcome. The food was absolutely beautiful and plentiful and the service and the staff were impeccable. The venue is of a high standard of cleanliness and the evening entertainment was fabulous. I will be back. All the way from Wolverhampton!

We stayed with friends in wisbech St Mary and went along to the pub on Sunday evening for the carvery. It was excellent, with a large selection of freshly cooked veg. The decor was great, with the bar adorned with shiny horse brasses. The landlady welcomed us warmly and we were later entertained by the landlord and our friend playing guitars and singing! All in all a great place with superb ambiance!

We had a wonderful meal in excellent surroundings and were treated with the utmost courtesy throughout. The only fly in the ointment was a lady from the "Cake" party. They came in with a birthday cake before the desserts and then everyone said Oh we won't have the dessert we will just have cake!! This was obviously the intention all along. They chopped this cake themselves and passed it all around (without plates) and the table looked like a horde of 5 year olds had eaten there. When approached by the owner she then went and shouted abuse at the kitchen staff and was rude and unpleasant to everyone until she left. She ruined for everyone else in the pub, what was until then a brilliant night. We will all go back to the Wheel, hopefully "Cake" will not.

I and a group of friends were in this pub on the evening of the 17th and were sitting in close proximity to the people who have complained. They did not care that their whining was upsetting other diners. The staff went out of their way to firstly give disabled access via a different entrance to everyone else, causing other diners to wait. There was one particular "lady" who found fault with everything, who constantly whined and moaned and who even went to the kitchens to shout abuse at the staff. We had a wonderful meal, the staff were helpful and courteous and the whole evening would have been brilliant if we had not had to sit near to those awful people. There was nothing the landlady or any other member of staff could have done to have pleased this woman, who spent a lot of the time just complaining to everyone within earshot -and yes they brought a cake, sliced and distributed it themselves and left the table looking like a bunch of chimpanzees had eaten there with no thought whatsoever given to the staff who had to clear it up. Arrogant, ignorant and expecting Rolls Royce service and wanting to pay Mini money. You have to book well ahead to get into this place and if they are now staying away it gives the rest of us more chance to book a table, and enjoy our evening.

I've been to The Wheel many times and given we were coming today to celebrate a birthday I was very disappointed with the attitude of the staff today. On arrival we asked if a cake could be brought out - which as far as we knew was fine. As requested the cake was brought out after main meal with lit candles. As we were deciding on our deserts the landlady came over and made us feel very uncomfortable about having the cake there, yet nobody said it was a problem on arrival. After paying for the meal I made my feelings known that I felt it was out of order only to be told to piss off and not come back, along with being told we'd made too much mess eating!! I'm not sure there was mess on the table at all, the only problem they seemed to have with us was my father, who is in a wheelchair. They had no disable access , we provided our own ramp, even tho we booked this table in Feb and the knew about the wheelchair and said it wasn't a problem. I found all the staff very hostile towards us. The landlady was aggressive and to be honest it was embarrassing to be spoken to like that infront of other customers. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

The Wheel Inn is a lovely typical village pub, nice clean appearance tidy with lovely flowers adorning the outside, as soon as you walk through the door there is a lovely warm atmosphere. Landlord and Landlady very nice and friendly always on hand to speak to also to help if needed. Food excellant! perfect carvery ,this being their speciality ,choice of 2 meats with a variety of vegetables, what more could anyone ask for. Highly recommended especially for anyone with large appetite. Keep up the good work Bert & Linda.

We attended the Wheel Inn with my wifes parents, who were from Manchester. We had a fantastic time, on arrival we were made very welcome by Lynn, who handled are seating and drinks order. The food was great my father in law asked to see Lynn and Burt to thank them for a well presented and superbly cooked meal, their was a great choice of food at the calvery. We had a lovely evening in this friendly and welcoming resturant. If you are in the area and looking for a great evening, i would highly recommend the wheel Inn as your first choice. Thanks again to Burt and Lynn

You couldnt make it up. The place is without a doubt a pub/restaurant you would make a return visit, the food is as good as it gets and plentiful, you know your in for a feed when you see the shear size of the plates. If you say that you have been in a cleaner pub i would feel confident in calling you a liar! Even the copper pipes in the toilets are polished bright enough to see your face in.The atmosphere is second to none and if you want to meet a real character go meet the landlord Bert and if you need to feel welcome the landlady Lynn and her barstaff always do exactly that. The gardens are well kept and a lot of care has obviously been taken to get get them to a such a standard. i could go on and on but i wont. give it a try (you`ll be back)

The Wheel Inn is a fantastic local pub that has been recommended by all most people that I have met since moving to this area. The whole place is spotlessly clean and the garden is absolutely beautiful. There has been a huge amount of effort put into the place and you can see this wherever you look. The food was very good and the service brilliant. I can happily say we were all made very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I would recommend the Wheel to all.

Ivisit the wheel inn quite often,& have always have always been amazed at the continuity of the standard of the food,& at the way the landlady warmly greets & accomodates her customers as if they are all friends. The polished brass in the pub gives it a warm cosy atmospher, unlike the sterile feeling of modern day public houses.People come from far & wide for the good wholesome food & warm welcome they recieve. p.s THE KITCHENS ARE SPOTLESS as is the rest of the establishment.

The Pub looks lovely from the outside and is ok inside - bit dated (brass everywhere!!) the food was very nice, although there was a sweaty chef behind the bar literally dripping wet!! not a promising sight when you have just eaten the food. The gardens where lovely, but the best thing about the Wheel is the landlady, people come from far and wide to see her, she is supposed to be a bit of a tyrant and she doesn't dissapoint - at one point i thought she was going to spontaneously combust at a waitress... possible the stories about her are a little far fetched though - i didnt see her bite anyone or throw anything plus i looked closely for horns!! so i was a little dissappointed. I would recommend though!
