I have been to the golden cross many times and each time i visit it gets better. The food is of high quality everytime, everything is fresh and comes out piping hot with a short waiting time even when its busy, the price of the food is very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you recieve. All of the staff there are very friendly and happy to help. we actually ate there on monthers day a group of 8 of us and it was the best mothers day we had there was no waiting around for our food and although the staff were very busy they were always popping over to the table to see if we needed anything which was lovely made us all feel special. while i was there in june i was speaking to Mark the landlord and he was telling me about the amazing smoking area they would be putting in the garden for the smoking ban on july 1st. A large area of patio with large parasols with heating and lights.being a smoker i think this is very important and it shows they look after their locals. overall i give this pub 10/10 and my family and i like it so much we will be approaching Mark for our wedding booking sometime in 2009 thanks to all at the golden cross

I have visited on serveral occasions, with work colleagues as we work locally and each time wonder why we bother. This is an un-welcoming pub, with slow un-friendly service, we felt that we were being pains by ordering drinks. There was no communication when our food took over 40 minutes to arrive even though we had pre-ordered it all - we couldn't figure that one out either! We will not be going back, which is a shame as it is fairly near us and the garden is very nicely kept, a real sun trap.
