OH WHAT WONDERFUL MEMORIES I HAVE OF THE BLACK SWAN, WE USED TO CALL IT "THE DIRTY DUCK", THATS THE NAME I WAS TOLD WHEN I FIRT ARRIVED IN 1964 IN THE U.S. AIR FORCE. WE USUALLY WOULD GO THERE ON FRIDAY OR SATURDAY NIGHTS, BUT BECAUSE WE WORKED SHIFT WORK AT CHICKSANDS AFB, WE COULD SHOW UP ANYTIME. WE EVEN HAD ROLL CALL AT 10:00AM ON ANY DAY AFTER WE GOT OFF THE LAST MID (12:00AM-8:00AM) WE WOULD GO AND HAVE BREAKFAST ON BASE, CHANGE AND HIT THE DUCK AND DRINK TILL 2:00PM, WHEN THEY CLOSED TILL 6:00PM, THAT WAS THE LAW BACK THEN. AND YES WE WOULD PLAY DARTS, LISTEN TO THE JUKE BOX, TALK WITH JACK, I THINK HE USED TO BE A BOXER AS I REMEMBER HE HAD TROPHYS AND GLOVES BEHIND THE BAR HANGING UP. THANKS FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES, THE BEST YEARS OF MY LIFE, I MARRIED A GIRL FROM HITCHIN AND NOW ON OUR 47 YRS WOW HOW TIME DOES FLY. WELL CHEERIO AND TA FOR THE MEMORIES....JIM CHARLIE FLIGHT RAF CHICKSANDS U.S.A.F. 1964-1967.........

Here i am in or near San Antonio Texas,i'm approaching 70 years old now..sitting here at my desk for some odd reason the Black Swan just poped up..Gone for me are the evening;s spent at the Black Swan,Jack & Thelma where in charge. A few lads i had met,we would play darts ect..i shall charish those times..i remember a young lady Gene Tierney lived just down the street.but a few other names escape me for now..But my buddie at that time was known as Hank. The Black Swan has many foot prints on it's floors..All of which are worthy and Great people as i recall..Long live this PUB....And Thank you...BILL
