My husband had to work on a sunday in Scotland so took me along with him - heavily pregnant and fed up!! The plan was to get a little b&b in the lakes on the way the night before so I only packed casual clothes. As a surprise he booked into the Rampsbeck Country House Hotel (he's always making romantic gestures)I was horrified as we were in his work van and not dressed for an elegant hotel yet we were made to feel very welcome. The room overlooking the lake with a balcony was beautiful and we had a lovely walk around the lake. We've just decided to go back there this weekend but I shall be packing more suitable clothes as I want to sample the wonderful restuarant menu and really enjoy the elegance of this lovely hotel. Well worth a visit

Never stayed in such a wonderful hotel - food excellent - first Christmas we had away from home - my sister and husband and myself and husband and little dog Nicholas - we were made to feel so welcome and Mrs.Gibb is fantastic and works so hard - and all the staff made us all feel so welcome. Will definately go again.
