Me and two friends have just returned from a fantastic stay at Thornheyes campsite in Buxton. We stopped in a tent with electric hook up and the site was clean, welcoming and very quiet, which is just what we wanted. The owners was welcoming and was there to help and assist. We visited the local club which is just a few minutes walk and really enjoyed our night out. The site is just a few mile from Buxton and a nice steady walk which is flat. Toilets and showers clean and tidy. Would recommend this site and will be returning soon. thanks for a great stay.

Just come back from Thornheys after a 3 night stay in our camper van. The site is well kept and the toilet and shower are very clean. The owners are very friendly. Do not let the fact that the owners are also funeral directors put you off visiting. This is very discreet and if I hadn't read the reviews would not have known the site was also a funeral directors. A lovely weekend!

First impressions of this site were that it was lovely an d peacefull, and to be fair it lived up to that one. It became quickly apparent, however, that the e ntire site was on a very steep hill. We camped at the top of the field, and spent much of the first night rolling down the hill, despite desperate attempts to avoid it. The other thing with being on a hill, in a valley, 1000 meters above sea level is the wind. I think, however, that our tent would have co[ed with it had it not been for one over enthusiastic camper who decided to move some of our pegs one night! As far as the site goes, i would certainly recomend it for caravans, and camping in reasonable weather. One other word of warning with this site is that the owners run a funeral directors from their home, and their morgue is in the adjacent field. Don't panic like I did when you see the fairly regular site of a hearse driving out of the site. There is also the visits by grieving relatives to contend with. Yes - i know it has to be done, but if you are on holiday there are better things to wake up to in the morning.
