Good Points: very friendly and accomodating. excellent breakfast, good food and lovely outside garden. There on business but should have taken advantage of what looked like a lovely walk up to dartmoor at the back of the hotel Bad Points: not dislike, just no internet access - would have been useful

The Fox and Hounds Hotel is a very nice, quiet place to stay at very reasonable prices. The staff is extremely friendly and the accommodations are nice and clean. Even the food was good and that's coming from an extremely finicky diner. I usually check in late and check out early to maximize my sightseeing time so I rarely care for more than a bed in a private room. I've had some bad experiences booking local, non-chain hotels online but the Fox and Hounds offered the best price and was in the area I wanted to stay. Turns out I was extremely surprised when I checked in and received a nice room that was larger than my two previous hotel rooms combined. The hotel has a charming, local atmosphere that may be lost on UK travelers, but should definitely be appreciated by international guests like myself. The hotel is quite small, but I feel that it gives it more of a friendly, homey feeling than lodgings at a larger hotel chain.
