Attended for lunch with my family, hotel claims to be family friendly but the regulars certainly say otherwise. My 2 year old son who has autism was crying during lunch to which we recieved digusted looks, shaking heads and mummbled comments. We were then shouted at by one of the regulars who felt the need to give her disgusting ignorant opinion on my crying child. My child was simply crying he was not throwing any objects or causing a massive disturbance. My husband took my son outside to try to calm him, the couple then went outside got into their car and continued to make rude, unnecessary comments at my husband and son. When I spoke with the staff i was told yes the customers were regulars. I would have thought an apology would have been offered but no. Whilst speaking with the staff an elderly woman who had been waiting behind me also agreed this was disgusting and offered some comfort. If this is the kind of people that the hotel allow to determine the business in their establishment they should certainly not be claiming to be a family friendly place. I would certainly not have customers like this in my business chasing away other customers and dragging the hotel name through the mud. How disgusting to publicly attack a child with such difficulties, The food was nothing special and burnt therefor myself nor my family will be returning or recommending this to anyone.

Booked into the Burntisland Sands Hotel for 1 night and ended up staying for 18months. Says it all really. Valerie and Clarke, their 2 girls and all the staff made me feel like part of the family. Love to you all, Best regards, Chas

On a recent tour of Scotland, we stayed overnight at a nearby bed and breakfast, who weren't doing breakfast, as the owners were abroad. They had an arrangement with Burntisland Sands Hotel to provide breakfast for their guests, so this is where we went. It was probably not the best of arrangements, since the b. and b. was in competition with the hotel, but the breakfast was the worst we had in two weeks' touring Scotland. The orange juice was watered-down and nearly as weak as water; the coffee was made from instant coffee, poured into a coffee jug and masquerading as real. The rest of the breakfast was really as tasty as that which one finds at a motorway services, certainly second rate. The hotel appears to have good reviews - was this below standard breakfast merely because we weren't staying there?

Had an excellent high tea here as a treat for my mum on mothers day. Food was excellent, the best lasagne ive ever had! And the cakes..... well, miniature delights. The service was excellent, the staff friendly and welcoming. We went there on recommendation and will definately be passing on to others. Will be back when the guilt of all those cakes has worn off! I simply cannot recomend this hotel enough. After driving through the night on work related issues i arrived somewhat hungry and parched at the hotel at 8.30am. Although the time stated for starting breakfast was 9.00am the owner, Valerie opened the kitchen just for me!. what a gem!. The breakfast was simply the best i had ever had. I belive this is what makes a good hotel, the ability and the willingness to go way above expectation. Bravo Burntisland Sands Hotel!

have just returned home from a wonderful stay at the sands hotel. accomodation was spotless and very comfortable with great sea views. food was fantastic and obviously home made. the best thing though was the staff, who were all, without exception warm and welcoming. i feel like i've found a gem of a place in the heart of fife - can't wait to return!

Went to the Sands for a Birthday meal. Can only describe the food as inedible. Wasn't going to complain but when asked if we had enjoyed our meal I said well no, not really - next thing is the "owner" came out of his grotto in a blood stained apron and started shouting at us saying we were ignorant and didn't appreciate good food. Sorry but if that's what customer service means then I will stay well away. Advice, don't complain to that moron...

I have recently been for a meal at the sands, it was thoroughly enjoyable. I had the lasagne which was probably the best lasagne I have ever tasted. All the staff were very friendly particularly the young waiter i think his name was derek, and a waitress called kathleen. The made the whole experience even more enjoyable and i will definately be returning in the near future.

I have visited the hotel several times over the last few years! The owners and staff are always friendly, welcoming and accomodating. The accomodation is always spotless with the food being first class and excellent value for money. There is something for everyone from kiddies to grannies! There is also a small safe area where the children are able to see the rabbits and gineau pigs which they love!

The sands hotel was recomended to me by a friend. Girlfriend and I were planning on spending the weekend at the hotel. The owner was rude and unhelpful and we ended up leaving early to come back to glasgow. I would not recomend the hotel to anyone!

Go there on a regular basis as live nearby, staff and owners very friendly, beer certainly isn't overpriced. Would recommend the vegetarian lasagne, it's not on the menu but they always have it if asked, my wife and I get it most times, and I'm not a vegetarian. If sunny ,large areas outside to sit, plus safe childrens play area with rabbits.

I arrived at the hotel at 8pm to find the chef/owner still dressed in his chef whites, drinking at the bar. I attended a function within the hotel which I enjoyed. I was then invited for a drink in the residents bar, where I was treated with hotility and felt a very cold atmosphere. I left the hotel very late at night for alternative accommodation - the only part of my 'stay' that was appreciated, was the refund of the cost of the room which I fel overpriced for the location. I will not visit the Sands again and would not recommend it to anyone. The staff themselves were friendly and welcoming but unforunately let down by the owner, .

i stayed there on the last night of my scottish holiday.the rooms were spotless and well equipped with a very comfortable bed. the beer as with most other caledonian hostelries was well up to the mark.breakfast was superb, filled me up for the day. when i got home, i realised my mobile phone was missing, i rang the hotel, they confirmed it was there and posted it back to me two days later- very considerate and a big thanks for that.
